Morning all. Got up half an hour ago saw the weather and crawled back under the duvet. Out for lunch today for SIL 40th then staying over for a Jonah day tomorrow. Certainly no gardening today. Stay warm everyone.
Pp sorry about your back, I know what that's like and at the moment mine is playing up. Did you buy primrose seed, or did you save some of your own. It's best to sow it as fresh seed, they like a bit of cold weather to germinate. When I sowed mine I put them in the fridge for a few weeks.
Thanks Dove and Logan. My back's been dodgy since I was in my teens and I'm usually very careful. Don't know what I did to it. Good excuse to sit on a hot water bottle. I bought fresh seeds from a wildflower supplier on line and chilled them so hopefully they'll appear soon. My cornflower are starting to show but no bluebells or woodruff or wood anemones yet, It's early days.
unfortunately the one dry day we have had yesterday did no gardening as I had friends over for lunch but we had a nice day catching up. Since then it's been raining and according to the weather man is set for the rest of the day. Thanks to all for advice re polly-tunnel. Will chat later.

Morning all. It’s been a good day today, so I did a bit of pottering in the garden as well as a drive to town for some groceries.
Glenys, your tale about Mars training, sounds interesting. My problem seems to be getting a free time to practice. Sometimes it feels like we are the local call centre for anything and everything. (Can you just unlock the fire shed so I can do a bit of repair on one of the trucks, can you take one of the trucks to town for a service for us, can you collect the repaired truck, we need someone to attend a car accident in case of fuel spillage, can you help us to read and understand the constitution before the next AGM, etc, etc.) and that’s just the fire brigade. Hubby also appears to be the computer guru for the village. The phone seems to ring all the time. The funniest one was his cousin saying, so now that you’re retired, what do you do all day? I nearly choked.

You probably used it ... think some backs aren't designed for practical use ... I come from a long line of 'backs' ... a bit of a problem as they're all farmers ... I've always taken great care to treat mine very carefully ... the only time I've had a real problem was after reaching across some furniture to clean a window ... two days before Wonky's wedding that meant a couple of uncomfortable nights in a B&B bed and lots of painkillers

Morning all. 10 hour sleep last night. That's double my average and 4 times what I had one night last week. A day in the tunnel beckons for me. It's been raining since 3pm yesterday. I think Canna splitting is on the agenda.
Morning Hosta My canna is still in the garage ... it'll come out into the studio soon ... probably when the weather's warm enough for me to play with compost in the garden and re-pot it. Today will be mainly sewing up OH's new jumper and winding the next lot of wool ...... volunteers to hold your arms out until they burn for woolwinding, form a queue now ......

Morning all. A bit grey and possibility of snow later. Thanks for tip re primrose seed in the fridge as I've never had much success though get self sown seedlings.
Hi all. So, as you will have guessed, health seems to be going downhill again. Should have been in Scotland last week, did not feel up to it, and OH decided I was not well enough to leave, so very disappointing for her. Heavy snow overnight, lots of shrubs and trees contorted into weird shapes, but hopefully it is melting now, so maybe not too much damage.
