... @Dovefromabove, you can have it "click and collect" to Waitrose .It'll be there tomorrow, saves you heading into the big bad city.
Duh! Of course .... we have to pop down to W'rose this morning (running out of food) so we'll see what they have in store as they have quite a good kitchenware section ... if not, I'll come home and do that

By the way, OH has just told me that while cleaning the shower he disconnected the hose and it won't reconnect properly again ... so we have to go to B&Q ... that's the third thing in as many days ...

We drink filter coffee so rarely use a kettle but I still manage to go through them in short order, usually the hinge or clasp on the lid gives up the will to live so we've bought an Obxx proof one that looks like a kettle that sits on a hob and has an old fashioned lid you just take off to fill it. DomoClip and cheap. Round about 30€. I'm gifted with the pots on filter machines too but last time I broke one we found it cost more to replace the pot than buy a new machine.
British sofas here. I spent ages going round all the stores looking for one with a high back that would support my dodgy neck as well as my dodgy lumbar region and wasn't leather. Finally found them in a top name (which I now can't remember) store in Waterloo. Still very good after 20 years tho the kitties have scratched the corners a bit now.
Dry here and cool. OH is out stripping bamboo canes off fluffy bits and, since my back is twinging something horrible, I'm on light cleaning till we go out this pm. The Potager Extraordinaire has its Open Day today selling off baby toms, peppers, chilies, squashes - all organic and all heritage.
Pat - I hope the goats left you some orchard. If your visitor is indeed challenged in the social niceties department you're just going to have to be blunt and ask them to chat n another room so you can enjoy your TV progs or else excuse yourself and go to bed or paint or something else that won't have you muttering with resentment. Train OH to say no more too.
I hope the frost clears up for you chaps up north and hasn't done any lasting damage. Same with the rain for all you people getting too much. We're expecting serious amounts tomorrow which is fine by me and will give OH an edge in his golf competition tomorrow - lots of experience in Belgian conditions and the locals here don't like it.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Duh! @Hostafan1 .... now I can't get into my JL account ... it didn't recognise my password so I changed it and it still won't let me in so I did it again and still no joy! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

My friend has Dualit kettles. She gets them from John Lewis, they always die before the two years are up and get replaced, (but only after she has descaled them). I got a £22 Russell Hobbs stainless steel from Tesco. The old one worked but the electricity kept tripping out. My brother says old kettles start to get earth leakage and so should be replaced every five years or so. We have had no trouble since we got the new one.
Dove check the inner hose of your shower hose. Sometimes it comes off and the water gushes out through the outer casing. Ask me how I know!
Will do! Thanks
No, not that ... he says it looks and behaves as if there should be a washer of some sort there, and he thought it had one when he fitted it, but the peskies have spirited it away ... we'll get a new hose on Monday. Good job we both showered this morning ... and the weather's not going to make us hot and sweaty
also the posh stainless steel towel rail in the kitchen fell apart into hand a minute ago
On a brighter note the new kettle works a treat and the new satnav is all charged up and is updating its maps
