Ah I see - thanks for clarifying. The reason we dropped it was to reduce scrolling on mobile and tablet devices. We'll need to gauge demand for the clock, as there were many people who weren't happy with the amount of scrolling, so we needed to make cuts where we could...
That's a good approach. This forum is slow loading/scrolling and I only access it on a desktop. There are faster loading forums I access elsewhere on a smartphone.
Signatures on this forum are not as bad as some others, but can I suggest that limiting what people put in their signatures would make an improvement to loading and scrolling?
-No pictures -Nothing that is not directly connected to gardening in some way -Defaulting the signature font to smaller than the posts font -Setting a character limit so the signature is never more than a single line.
There are already these restrictions on signatures "Use up to 1 image. Images will be scaled to a maximum height of 70px. Signatures can be up to 180 characters long."
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Hi Chris, you can choose to completely hide signatures if they're adding too much scrolling for you. Go to your signature settings (via Edit profile in the top right corner of the page), and then check the box which reads 'Hide signatures always'. Hope that helps!
@Hazel -1 - I'm a little confused as to what you mean - the posting box appears at the bottom of every page as it has always done, and it is usable. Is it not working for you?

Thanks @Dovefromabove good to see there are some restrictions. But the point remains about why a picture is necessary in a signature? Even a small one is distracting and slows the forum. And would in some cases be displayed tens of thousands of times on every post ever made by that member. And duplicated many times every day with a regular poster.
And if the signature can be restricted to 180 characters, why not restrict it so the signature is only a single line long? Anything to reduce clutter and make the forum more easily scrolled and readable.
I completely 100% agree with the sentiments in your own signature, but the fact remains that there are now over 40,000 copies of it. I'm in favour of signatures being available generally, and I think yours is a good choice, but I think the suggestions I made are still constructive.

@Joyce21 you quoted what I said about no pictures out of context.
