SOLUTION:   for me anyway.   The tip above led me to seeing what coookies seem to be 'allowed' and what are 'blocked'.  for some unknown reason GW website appeared blocked from saving cookies, which inevitably was going to cause trouble logging in.    once i moved GW from blocked to 'allowed' it worked fine, like my other machines/devices.
Well spotted!  It's the blocking of that 3rd party cookie (which is IMHO is the correct behaviour), which appears to prevent the login.  Allowing that cookie, let me in.

MU. I can't help with the signing in problem , but to get to the Gardeners World main site from the forum site just go to the top of the page and click on the Gardeners World dot com sign.....next to categories and discussions. Mine opens in a new tab.

@Muddle-Up - glad to hear avatars are back! Let me know if the problem reoccurs.  Yes the rest of the site is reachable via the logo button in the top left corner, or just type gardenersworld.com into your address bar. Re signing in - If you sign in to gardenersworld.com first, it will sign you into the forum at the same time, and vice versa. You may need to press 'Sign in', but you won't have to enter your login details again... Hope that makes sense!

@Muddle-Up, @Lantana > the forum and the website are now held on different servers, so we essentially have two sites now - one for content, one for the forum. That's why there's a change in the way you sign in. Once you've signed in (either to the forum or the website) for the first time, you'll then have to click Sign in when you visit the other site, but it carries over your login details so you shouldn't need to enter your login details again. That should keep you logged in on both until you sign out of one... I hope that makes sense!

@Muddle-Up - could you take a screen shot for me please? It'd help diagnose the problem... Oh and could you also head to this website https://supportdetails.com/, and fill out your name, email and then our email [email protected] - that will send us some of your technical details, so we can better understand what's going on 'beneath the hood'. You don't need to enter any technical details yourself :)

@Hazel -- - yes sorry I did see it, slipped out the net... Slightly confused though as we have a 24-hour clock already?

@Nora, I think Hazel means to have the time showing throughout as it doesn't show on the previous day's postings.  There are insomniacs among us and it's helpful to know time of posting.

Ah I see - thanks for clarifying. The reason we dropped it was to reduce scrolling on mobile and tablet devices. We'll need to gauge demand for the clock, as there were many people who weren't happy with the amount of scrolling, so we needed to make cuts where we could...
