May just be me in Pawleys Island, sc, USA. But I’m on my iPhone and it’s taken a whooooole lot longer to load til the point almost no pictures show up, which isn’t quite fine, these are plants, saying I have a fern looking plant and trying to identify without a proper picture is almost impossible. I know this is a uk site and I don’t mean to hate but I like the original format just fine. However, I still love GW and it may take awhile to get it right again but I hope all goes well, and it could just be on the iPhone, but I went on the computer and it still took a very long time to load all the pictures, minutes rather than seconds as originally. Also it’s a bit weird to navigate the home screen to your own posts I’m hoping this is a resolvable issue. It’s also making me sign in twice at some points when trying to enter the forum. But I’m glad to be on here again
When I first found the new forum updated I was annoyed that it seemed so much more complicated. Some options I couldn't find and the information on how to do stuff didn't seem to work. I guess it's still a work in progress and am hoping things smooth themselves out so we can access things easily and without too much stress. Fingers crossed, as the forum has been a great source of information and help.
Hi Nora, after logging out and back in, I managed to edit my profile OK but my forum name now has the 'numbers bug'. Can you edit it please, when back at work.
I managed to fix it by logging-in to the main gw site and going to settings. Before, I was just logging in to the forum I think, so couldn't see an option to change my forum name.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
Not sure if this is a deliberate change or not but on the previous version if you posted a comment on a thread it automatically added it to your (now called) bookmarks. I replied to a new post yesterday about allotments (of course) but forgot to bookmark it. I had to search for it today. I have bookmarked it now but I know I will forget again.
@Allotment Boy - not deliberate - thanks for spotting. To follow a thread you'll need to bookmark it from now on by pressing the star button. You won't have to do this more than once though.
@Learnincurve - thanks for the suggestion. During the beta testing, the majority of members were in favour of the autosave, so we'll keep it this way for now. If it's something the majority of forum members would like to change then we can of course look into it. The feature can't be tailored to the individual member - so if it's removed, nobody would be able to benefit from it.
It's worth noting the autosave doesn't save, for example, 10 drafts for every post. If you finish your post and publish it, you won't have any drafts in your drafts folder. If you don't publish your post, you will only have one draft in your drafts folder, rather than 10. It's just a safeguard to ensure those who take longer to write a message don't lose it owing to a laptop freeze or poor internet connection etc.
