Easy does it Dove.   Any pics LG?  Quick, while you can!

I am now cutting out foam and wadding for new dining room chair seats.   Asked OH where he'd stashed my staple gun and he said "Office".  His English vocab sometimes fails him.

Staple gun, I said, not stapler.  "Oh, somewhere in the cave in a box along with the staples" and promptly rugged up to take the dogs out!   So I'm stuck.  Just for that he can come shopping with me to buy the glue I need and look for edging for our shade bed.  I need a short fence or something to stop the dogs leaping all over it and squishing my treasures when they're racing up and down with Aiko on her side of the boundary hedge and fence.

Best go and see if the chilli marmalade has reached setting point yet.

  • Many congrats to you, Wonky!  Hope it turns out to be the perfect job.  Doing your own gardening at weekends sounds ideal - not too much for your hands to cope with...

Skype sounds an excellent idea, Punkdoc, until you're well enough to return in person.  Once again I'm full of admiration for your determination to do what the rest of us haven't the bottle to contemplate.

Wow!  Fancy building a pond in this weather, LG!  I'm tucked up indoors but would love to see photos.  image

Obelixx, hope your marmalade has set...

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • Liri, I think LG is building a secret ice rink ... she's going to take up curling!!! image

Punkdoc, much as I admire you I think you are totally nuts! You aren't well enough to go of to war zones at the moment. I would probably chain you to the sofa if I were Moira, she must be a very understanding, tolerant person. Do what Hazel said and write informative leaflets or a book about what you know.

Well done Wonky! Hurray for Wonky! May I ask what the job is? I hope it won't hurt your hands.

Obelixx said "You may be OK Busy.  The forecast here has changed and instead of snow we're to expect cloudy spells and 10C on Thursday.   Maybe the warm will spread inland enough to let you take off.  Not sure about landing at Stanstead tho."  That's not what I'm worried about, it's getting to Stansted and driving to Norfolk and flight cancellations.

We had a lovely lunch with our friends. It was a beef fondue, with salads and sauces, followed by lemon tart and orangey bread and butter pudding. Yummy, haven't had a fondue for years.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Ooooh !  Neither have I BL. Love a beef fondue image

Roads are very nasty in East Anglia. 3 women killed near MILs home in South Lincs ... difficult junction by garden centre ... sounds as if they pulled out into the path of a lorryimage

And a school bus crashed in the next village ... thankfully not serious ...

Yum - I haven't had a fondue since I was about 15, BL. But you've made me fancy one now!

Dove, it's only a teensy pond. Curling for frogs, maybe?! And Liri, it was now or never because OH has the week off. Couldn't believe our planning as the weather forecast got worse and worse and worse... but it's done now. Well, the bits that required two of us are done anyway. I do have some photos on my phone but I'm a bit embarrassed about the size of it - and the amount of fuss I've made for such a littl'un!

Ooh, dinner's ready. I do like OH being home image.

Just been out to the cave to see if I can find the staple gun and noticed the pond is half frozen!   Bitter winds out there.

The most memorable fondue bourgignon was at friends of OH's from school and uni.  They had bought an Edwardian house out in a village near Newbury in the 80s and rabitted on about planting the garden with period roses and period plants and period furniture ditto for indoors so had invested in dark green velvet plush sofas and French polished mahogany dining table and chairs and so on.

In due course the spirit in the fondu burner ran out so clever chops re-filled it straight from a bottle of meths while it was still hot.  Nearly set fire to the place.  The table had to go for re-polishing.  I'd have flattened him but they're still married.

Too greasy for me so I avoid them when I can.   Possum's idea of heaven would be a chocolate fondue or, better still, a chocolate fountain.

  • Dacha ... Pdoc was about to fly out to work with Medicin sans frontieres (again) in Syria, tending to the victims of chlorine gas ...... sadly the situation there is such that all foreign medical staff are being withdrawn so now he won't be going ... for the time being at least.
