  • Keep an eye on him Fire Lily ... when one of my dogs started changing her behaviours e.g. being reluctant to jump down from the back of the van or to  jump up into it, I was puzzled.  One day she refused to sit as usual while I placed her dish on the floor ... she stood still but wouldn't sit ... when I tried to insist she began to tremble ... I called the vet immediately as this was so out of character and I was worried.

Some lengthy investigations revealed the onset of a severe auto-immune condition which was destroying her joints ..... she was only 30 months old ......... despite wonderful groundbreaking treatment carried out by the veterinary college at Cambridge University she had to be euthanised a year later.

While hopefully your husky's reluctance to jump further than he has to is just an idiosyncrasy, it's worth keeping an eye on.

They were at it on the coast here too Dove and kite surfing too  - all with wet suits but even so.  Barking!

OH has just asked if I want to go for a walk on the beach with him and the dogs.  Not till my knees stop creaking and I have some muscle strength back!  Frightening how soggy they feel after just 10 days off.

Many years ago had a cat who "owned" a particular armchair.  Woe betide any person who didn't know and sat on it.  They would get quietly squeezed and fidgeted off.   Rasta doggy generally only wants a bone or a toy if Bonzo's got it or she's looking for something to bring us when we come home..

  • WonkyWomble. Your cats are smarter than mine. They still haven't learned that the stoves tend to be hot.

Dovesfromabove. He hasn't changed his ways, he has always been retarded. People say that if a huskys IQ would be one point higher they would be able to talk, but Casper didn't get that memo or he ate it. We are talking about a dog that can't open open doors (I wrote it correctly) and are attacked every day by a tree that tangles itself with his leash. Same tree, every day. image

Maybe he's so smart that he realises it would be a bad idea to let on just how smart he is image

I'm glad it's not a new behaviour ... it's something I'm always on the alert for since then.

Pets are funny sometimes. Still miss my border collie.

OH's eye still isn't right. He rang the hospital and the doc said it's early days and to wait a bit.

Was cold this morning -7°, but now it's sunny. Have got in a load of logs, thinking about pruning the grape vine.

Busy...a neighbour had the same thing following her first cataract op.  It was fluid which had gathered and it was fine after a few days.  She had no problem after the second cataract op.

Cold but sunny here - could not resist some garden pottering. Trimmed the old stems of one of my huge Lavenders and pulled a ton of brown perennial leaves up while OH re-cemented a few stones on the wall by the pond. Back is in half now! I noticed some blossom just starting on Cherry Plum (photo once gremlin removed).

Hope you all ok. What are we all having to eat today?? My fridge is a bit bare but I had better start thinking about tea (dinner/supper - as you prefer). Check in later.

I was planning to potter outside but the wind is just too biting.   OH has taken the dogs for a bracing run on the beach while I figure out how to do Sashiko style embroidery by machine - easy geometric shapes but needs thick thread and some backing.

I have a leg of lamb slow cooking in the oven after spending a day bathed in a rub made from cinnamon, cumin and sumac all mashed up with some garlic cloves, anchovies and olive oil.  It's on a bed of pink Roscoff onions and fruit juice.  Supposed to be pomegranate but we haven't any so it's got a mix of pomegranate molasses with apple, blood orange and blackcurrant juice.  We'll see.  Total experiment.
