I was sitting eating a salad in the rain swept car park of a supermarket earlier with OH. As I offered him a second sweet chilli kebab from a paper bag I said 'Happy Valentines'. He laughed and said 'we're so unromantic - but I can't think of anyone else in the world I could do this with'. Then he gave a bit of kebab to each of the damp dogs sitting in the back and we drove home. I doubt it'll get mentioned again. I used to get a Mothering Sunday card for my Mum (she got quite heated about it not being 'Mother's Day'), but all the other 'days' - Father's, Grandparents', Second-Cousins-Twice-Removed's Day, You'd better-buy-something-tacky-or-you're-gonna-be-considered-a-mean-old-git Day - got ignored.

As far as we're concerned today is FIL's birthday and it's pretty hard on him that we never take him out for a meal on his birthday because everywhere is rammed and twice the price. We're taking him out on Friday instead image

It isn't me is it   image  ... this knitting pattern is wrong isn't it ... it says   "... mark positions for 8 buttons on the band, first to come level with the buttonhole already marked in right front, last to come just below start of front slope shaping, and remaining 5 buttons evenly spaced between them."

It doesn't need a knitter to work out that it's WRONG ... does it image
