Man is here fitting new vinyl flooring in the bathroom that flooded in early October. He's brought the carpet for the landing but says he can't lay it until it's had a screed. When the woman came to do the estimate ages ago she said it needed a screed but didn't explain and was very vague when I asked her. I spoke to a carpenter and the chap who did the walls after the flood and they said you couldn't screed a wooden floor. But carpet man says it's a special screed with fibres in it for wooden floors. If only that had been explained in the beginning. Now I'll have to wait again and it will be more expensive and I don't know if the insurance will agree.
The French rarely use underlay and they stick the carpet down with glue. The previous carpet was stuck onto cork sheeting that was stuck to the wooden floor. The men who removed it after the flood got some of the cork up and gave up so now it's a mess, part wood, part cork and part stuck foam carpet backing.

I am making blueberry and hazelnut muffins to take to patchwork. Spent my morning sorting out the sewing pit which now looks like a room again after last month's marathon. Lots of help from pussies and Rasta. OH has disappeared off to have a golf lesson. His first ever so I hope they don't deconstruct him completely and wreck his game. Don't need a grump fest this spring.
Cold here at only 2C but sunny so not complaining. Hope everyone else has some good weather at last.
Congrats Hosta. Have a great time with your girls. Hugs Pdoc.
Busy - can you hire a floor sander to sort out your downstairs? Sounds unlovely and in need of fixing.

Morning all.
That's how I feel about fat, fidget.

We have snow forecast for here later this week. OH's daughter & family are driving from Eastbourne on Saturday, hope there isn't snow then.
Morning all.
Good news and and bad news!!
Good news: it's 2 years today since I gave up alcohol and even better than that: MY GIRLS ARE ARRIVING TODAY.

Bad news: it's freezing cold outside with a hard frost and we've run out of heating oil and they can't deliver before tomorrow.
The woodburner should keep the house warm enough, but no hot water.
You have a kettle ...
