It's upstairs, Obelixx, wooden plank flooring, was covered in sheets of cork then carpet, all got flooded when the bathroom pipe went.

Dacha, the cleaning firm were cowboys but I was desperate at the time, everything sopping wet, poured from upstairs to the room below, leaving stains on the Wilton carpet and the furniture. Had trouble finding someone to clean up. I'd had a fall and couldn't cope with it. The carpet firm is good, they've laid carpets here before. Just had the estimate for the floor levelling and it's OK.

Were you wanting to go to your dacha, Dacha, or are you happy to stay in Moscow? When you mention the dacha I always think of the film, Dr Zhivago. Will there be daffodils?

  • Hello all.

What a palaver, BL!  Hope it gets sorted for you soon.

Your snow looks really beautiful, Dacha... shame about all those trees coming down though.

Hope you have a lovely time with your girls, Hosta.  image

Overheard in the market cafe:  "I never learnt to read or write till I started breeding canaries..."  Somehow reminded me of "Last of the Summer Wine."  image

I would like to hear where the word cowboys became associated with bad practice? When I was a young boy .....cowboys were my heroes ?

So even the freaking pigeons can't find food .....I do not like them ......but my BH keeps telling me ...."they are god's creatures!"

Not gardening I know, but is there a way to stop the pop up adverts on this particular site, I find them so annoying!

  • I think 'cowboys' became a derogatory term once real farmers rather than ranchers became established in the US.  Cowboys herded the cattle to a fresh area grazed the grass to a dustbowl and moved on ...
