Good afternoon all. Been busy with a chappy who came to talk about solar panels for which we have to go thru 5 hoops - bank (don't need a loan but they have a say anyway), technical chaps, Mairie, EDF and EDRF (electricity suppliers). Assuming all goes to plan we'll get 7 new technology panels, made in Germany, totally recyclable and with added features such as a battery to store surplus and a system to recycle hot air as heat for the house. Fingers crossed as it will be so much greener and cleaner and cheaper with leccy prices going up 10% a year and oil unstable but also increasing.
Can't tell you how many forms there are to fill but our copies make for a very thick folder.
LP - so very sorry for your friends especially as they'd gone off thinking the rest was safe and could otherwise have saved some. Thank heavens they weren't in there! Very kind of you to offer shelter to the stranded. Only been up your M way twice - once to go and see Rennie M stuff in Glasgow and another when we flew in to Prestwick for my dad's funeral in the Lakes. The other time was before I was 27 the first time so no M74.
LG - very professional looking cloches. Gold stars all round. I hope they do the trick.
Pdoc - I like duck liver and chicken liver and lamb's liver and lamb's kidneys but not hearts or gizzards or tripe or tongue or ears or snouts and the rest. Dove can have my share of those. OH will eat anything except oysters and "sea snails".
I used to note the cuckoos returning Dove. April 25th was the earliest in Belgium.
Chicky - I hope you're exploring all the wonderful Indian and Pakistani restaurants in Brum. Wporth going just for those I should think.
We've had heavy rain overnight and this morning with very strong winds and I ended up with two cuddly pussies at 4am. Lucky me. Such a horrid morning I stayed under the covers reading for ages so now I must go and catch up with jobs - patchwork homeowner, my stuff and also cleaning the stupid cooker that was where when we bought the place. I've managed to sell it thru a local website and they're coming to fetch it on Friday morning. Goody! Looks wonderful but can't roast belly pork or bake a cake so no good to me.
Enjoy what's left of the day everyone. I hope you warm up and dry out as needed sooner rather than later.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

A sports commentator just described the snow as 'over-aggressive, ........ OH quipped back that he didn't see why the snow couldn't keep its cool ........
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Thanks Dove when i go to the G centre next I will find out more about them and where can we get fertilize from we are not as well geared up like the Uk.
That sounds lovely Pdoc (you have a PM) ...... we had cod with a butterbean mash last week. Tonight we have ham and cheese pancakes smothered with a lovely Gouda sauce and baked in the oven until bubbling and smelling wonderful .... with some sweetcorn.

Evening all, Aching today after yesterday's endeavours in the garden. Did some h*******k and watched some TV.
Off to secondborn's later as I'm on Nanny Duty until Friday, will miss mum's 96th birthday on Thursday so went to see her today to take card and pressie. She's still battling on, some good and some bad days. Luckily my brother visits her on Thursdays.
Sorry to hear about your friend LillyP, can't imagine how awful it must be to lose everything like that. So many things have memories attached to them. I always said that after the family, photos were the next thing I would save.
Hubby has ordered me some Jane Phillips Iris plants for valentines day. They should be here some time next week. Want to plant them next to rose Mortimer Sackler.
Light boxes arrived today and I managed to put them together. Hopefully they will help produce stronger plants, less leggy. Still debating whether to sow some sweet peas this year or have a break.
This is the new Hellebore I bought from Ashwoods. It's called Rosy Glow. Haven't decided where to plant her yet.
Gorgeous hellebore Yvie. And congrats to your Mum -96 is a very big number
Obxx, we have discovered a very nice Indian restaurant in the jewellery quarter in B’ham - been there a couple of times. But last week littlest Chicklet picked the lunch spot - her birthday, her prerogative
One of the great things about working from home is watching all the birds at the feeders every time you make a cuppa ......and there were very many cuppas made

Very sad, LP, especially the fire starting again.
Card is made, dinner will be Cod, Chorizo, Butter beans and a Tomato sauce.
I agree, snow can be very aggressive, especially when I am driving in it.

That's gorgeous, Yvie Stevie.
At last I've ordered my plug plants, may have gone over the top

Man is coming tomorrow to put a wood friendly screed on the landing before the carpet is laid.
That's a beautiful hellebore. I was hoping to go this weekend, but we are having a lunch for Mum for her Birthday.
Rosy Glow is gorgeous
Night night folks
Sweet dreams ...
