Waitrose have already called to ask if I can work this afternoon. Hubby answered, said I was still in bed and , no, I couldn't work today.
I went in yesterday to find I had 2 customers on my route , pretty far apart, but 3 hours apart . "Great, a nice easy one for a change" I thought. But no, some interfering tw*t decided to amalgamate my drops with other routes so I ended up on tills all day. I could have done with a nice easy drive, especially as the sun shone all afternoon.
I must say, the men buying Valentine gifts outnumbered the ladies by over 20:1.
My fave was a lovely young man,mid 20s, about 6ft2, blond, "Devon fire and rescue" jacket. Lovely ,lovely , lovely. He had 2 large bunches of roses. I commented on the 2 bunches.
" One is for my girlfriend and the other is for my Mum"
" Aw , Mothers are special, you only ever get one . I'm sure she'll be thrilled"
" We lost my Dad last August. I just want her to know she's still loved"
You all know what a big softy I am: I struggled.
As I gave him his receipt I said. " I hope your girlfriend likes her flowers, but I hope you Mother loves hers more. She certainly deserves them "
Good present Clari If you want a dog friendly camp site virtually on the beach, just by the lifeboat station and next to a lovely little fishing harbour and a windswept common ... a short stroll from real pubs serving good food, fish straight off the boat etc etc etc just give me a shout ... it is in Suffolk tho'

Morning Dove, hope your well and keeping warm!!! I'm off to take my sick note to work in a little while, just waiting for traffic to die down.
Blinking chilly here! Shouldn't spring be at least trying by now?
Hope the weather is alright for your family driving Joyce and your daughter on Friday, we have step womble coming from Brighton on Friday, think she fancies some home cooking and pretending to be a teenager again and sleeping in half the day, apparently teachers don't get to do that as much as they would like! bless her!
Hosta, love your OH.....'he's still in bed and NO he can't work today!' Nearly as romantic as your fireman, I'm assuming we are calling him YOUR fireman
Chicky I'm a window bird watcher too. Flatters has the windowsill and I have a chair at the kitchen table. We have a rambling rose over the large shed in the bottom of our garden and all the bird feeders are hung there. As we have been here 18 years, word has got around amounts the birds and we have the majority from the neighborhood! Don't think many people around here put food out. Lovely to watch with a bit of radio on and noodling
Hello Clari, OH hasn't done to badly by the sounds of it but is it all ground work for holiday request? either way, not a bad effort! I can't talk we don't do Valentines at all!
Hahah!! dove and Hosta, see we picked up on the same key word in the description of the fireman and your posts weren't even there when I started typing!
Valentines just never been important to us, we are in love all year round, don't need to prove it on an enforced day with obligations to spend ridiculous money on that you haven't got on tacky overpriced stuff that no one wants or needs! I've never been good at doing as I'm told though so I guess its just another form of my own little rebellion I do however Hosta, stand by your OH in his banning you from working last minute today!

That's 'cos the arrival of Valentine's Day wasn't totally unexpected by women ... we've worked out that it comes around every year and we plan ahead
Just love 'your' young fireman

Nor us.
Teehee! Thought as much Hosta

Wonky, that's exactly what I feel.
So much of it is just marketing and guilt-tripping those who don't get involved, ditto christmas.
Hi all.
My home made valentines card went down well, so the day is off to a good start.
You would have loved the rugby Hosta, we were sitting next to a group of young french men, who I am told, were very easy on the eye.
