I did chuckle AuntyRach! I'm with you! I see through the money fleecing but yes, love is the best! I'd rather have a picture of canoodling swans or a heart shaped spud than glitter covered roses! Lucky there's something for everyone!
A certain department store sent me an email for undies for valentines day.
My OH knows better than to buy me a. underwear, b. anything red at all.
He did manage a card. It is the 20th anniversary of our first meeting. Sort of a blind date at a party. He had a few to drink. I was stone cold sober. (driving) Then I went to Oz for a month.
Maybe we should design sexy undies for gardeners Fidget maybe a nice red long John with red lace trim and tassels can't stand red as a colour on me anyway so they would have to go beneath waterproof trousers too, sure that's still sexy to some folk
I have to say , I think the whole red roses thing is just too passé. I'd kill Hubby if he gave me red roses. Totally lacking imagination. Yellow roses or even white roses fine, but not red.
I bought him some white lilies on Monday , but that was more to pacify him re finishing at 8pm on my day off.
He's just ordered me 2 new pairs of swimming cossies. Romance dead? methinks not.
No accounting for taste, Wonky... not sure about red long johns, might trouble the neighbourhood robins. Green is much better, blends in with the undergrowth.
What? You wear something on top of your long johns?? Oh yes, waterproof trousers...
It was my turn to give OH the 40-year-old Valentine card this year. He was surprised cos he hadn't realised what the date was!
Lovely touching story re "your" fireman, Hosta.
Right. The birds are queuing up, waiting for me to make a new batch of bird cake (main ingredients, ground-up peanuts and beef dripping). Better get going...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
liri, I love the 40 year old card story, and punkdoc, I love the handmade card too.
When my kids were younger they'd always say " what do you want for Fathers Day/ Birthday / christmas?" and I'd always reply " something you've made yourself.

Happy valentines yourself.
I feel a bit humbug now! Love is the best - but it's the glittery flowers and pants with hearts on I can't stand! ?

I have just bought some Narcissi, so no red roses here.
