Chicky, I can see three bird feeders when sitting in the kitchen and therefore spend ages watching the birds.

sadly found a greenfinch dead at the backdoor. No sign of a window strike we think the wee chap just too cold.

Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.”

They are hardy to even colder climates than Britain, this time of year it's more probable that it's an infection like bird flue or it just died of old age.

I don't know if you have an equivalent, but we have the states veterinary medical institution, where we can send even dead wild animals for testing (for just things like bird flue).

Morning image. Just woken up to a lovely bunch of flowers ?......Mr C can be a real sweetie when he decides to turn on the charm imageimage

off to London in a little bit - working first, then meeting up with a friend fron Uni days in the evening.  She lives in Suffolk, so get togethers are rare, but that doesn’t seem to matter.......there will be much wagging of chins image

sad about your greenfinch LilyP image.  Why are fingers crossed for good weather Friday?  Or is it just anticipation of respite from all the white stuff you’ve been enduring?  Meant to say, read back a bit earlier, and your snowman was superb image⛄️⛄️⛄️

    Morning all.

So after saying that I'd buy a nice dinner and he'd treat me to a new wiper arm for the truck I've been woken to an extra treat of an apple tree!

I'm not sure where it is going to go yet (I have a pear and an apple tree in pots waiting for a home that we're rescued from the bin at Morrisons last year) but I'm thinking firstly it might need to go in a much bigger pot for this spring (very top heavy - I don't think the garden centre he visited sells many trees as it looks like it's been in the pot for a while).

He's also brought "us" a litter picking grabber to help me in the garden. I'll wait and see what his plans for this are!!

Almost makes up for his asking permission to have a small holiday at the end of April (oh goody thinks I- I NEED a holiday) and..  Oh wait he means with his best friend taking my Land Rover to a 4x4 challenge which sounds absolutely awesome. Oh Well! *Starts looking for dog friendly campsites by the seaside*

  • Spring is coming. When I took the dogs out, the birds were singing and the snow was melting away. It's to soon, the snow light up the landscape, we still have so few hours of sunlight, so it will become dark and gloomy. This shouldn't be happening for at least another month.

With a few more cars and a couple of more plane rides to faraway countries, we probably will be able to grow oranges in Sweden. image

Hmm, I've been to Stockholm in February - I'd say you're still a little way off. Have one of those lovely cinnamon buns - kanelbullar is it? - to cheer yourself up. Or a cardamon one, even better but harder to find image. Can't get them in the UK - or not here, anyway. I have looked

Yes, kanelbullar, they even have their own day here (4/10). You can buy them at IKEA or make them yourself, it's not hard. http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/food-beverages/pastries-desserts-cookies/kanelbullar-ready-to-bake-cinnamon-bun-frozen-art-40212972/

There is cardamon in cinnamon buns, it´s just how much of each spice you have in them, so a matter of the bakers taste.

    Morning all.

Very windy but dry just now.

Chicky, Lily P's report for Friday was for road conditions as my daughter will be passing through her village when she drives up on Friday.

I hope the roads from further north are okay tomorrow as relatives are coming down from Oban for the day.

Clari, enjoy the apples from your tree.
