    Morning all.

Yesterday I took Reggie to a ploughing match; just a little local one but around 100 ploughs (through the ages from horse to grey fergie to modern six ploughs) with crowds, noises, children and other dogs.

He's very nervous about sudden noises and doesn't like crowds (much less small children who tend to be allowed to rush at him despite being a German Shepherd/ having "in training" badges on / a muzzle hanging off his harness) but I'm pleased to announce he behaved like a model dog!

Because when he gets stressed he gets reactive my partner doesn't like taking him to events. Which means either I don't get to go or we have to take a long drive to family to drop him off for the day.

I'm hoping now he's older and calmer this year I can work on him to help him relax so we can go out to events more often. We'll see! I think however my biggest issue will be my partner. Still he can stay at home and Reggie and I can go out.

I got my Valentine's apple tree in a large pot on Saturday. I'm not sure where it will go in the garden as it's not dwarf stock but for now it will be fine in this pot on the patio. (I could sit in the pot and the tree was in a pot my foot wouldn't fit in so plenty of space).

I'm pinning lots on my next job interview (this Friday). I'm afraid my current job is very close to my getting signed off sick to protect my delicate mental state. I'm afraid I'm now beyond trying to carry on pushing myself constantly and all avenues for escape will be considered.

we are  heading off very early tomorrow for two weeks winter sun, supposedly. It was 16 and raining when I last looked,

however it can’t be as cold as here and someone else will cook. I am very tired!!!

Clari, there's a job out there to suit your undoubted talents. It might be hard to find, but it's out there.

Wonky, that goes for you too Poppet.

    Good luck to you both.

    Thank you Lily!

A few weeks in the sun sounds ideal. People underestimate how important sun and warmth is for our wellbeing. Soak it up amd enjoy the not cooking!

Good morning.  Grey, mis and misty out there and a bit parky.  So far I have had lots of help making a serious ganache for my very chocolatey carrot cake and then stripping chicken to mix with curried mayonnaise for lunch.   Had to call in OH to fend off the critters.

LP - good luck with all the preps but does the car need to be cleaned today?   Have a great time in the sun and get a good rest.

Busy - I understand but, tbh, have had much better experiences with Belgian docs and ops than in the UK where it all seemed stressed and chaotic even back in the 80s before there was a real crisis in the NHS.   OH had his cataract done in Belgium and was very happy with the results and the care.   Hope it goes as well for your OH.

Clari - well done Reggie and yes, leave OH at home with the ironing or something till he's trained.  Good luck with the job hunting.

Lots of bird activity here now and they're eating heartily at the feeders.   The coypu seem active too as Woolly Bear has just come in absolutely slathered in poo.  You'd think, after a bloody encounter with one, that she'd be put off but no, yet another full bath and shampoo needed.

Morning all, Back in bed with a cuppa waiting for the heating to warm things up a bit. Was hoping to garden today but it's not looking good.  My new irises should have been delivered on Friday. Hope they are Ok.

Wouldn't mind a bit of winter sun.
