Morning all, afternoon Pat! Morning Dove

Cloudy/sunny here not a bad day, the cats are trying to convince me to go outside with them!

Been a lovely weekend with stepwomble image she bought me a gorgeous bunch of flowers and a stunning hardback book of Claude Monet's garden, glorious pictures!! She's driving back to Brighton in a little while then just a pottering day here. Maybe I'll have a chance to read back later! Been non stop here!

Joyce, that is very kind of you to step in and sacrifice your gentle Sunday morning! I hope they are appreciative!

Hope everyone has a nice day ahead

Supposed to be bright and sunny out there but we had another 8mm of rain last night and it's still at it.  That's 747mm now since mid December.  Clever to concentrate it all in the "off" months.

Have finally surfaced form a nice warm bed and my Kindle and we're off to an indoor car-boot which they call "vide-grenier" round here - emptying attics.

Thought you weren't supposed to prune in frosty weather Dove.  We have buds bursting here too and fresh new foliage on that big perfumed, pink tree peony.

Hope your role playing isn't too trying Joyce.

  • It's the back garden Obelixx ... much more sheltered than the front which is a frost pocket.  Iimage

Now to prep the veg for supper and then I can get on with sewing up this cardi ... it resembles an octopus at the moment image

Just back from the local Potato Day. All sorted for seed spuds now, and got a few other bits and bobs while I was there image. I've not been to one before - very good option to get some more interesting potato varieties than the 'usual suspects' sold as individual tubers in the GC. I've generally got them online before but always end up chucking more than half on the compost heap as I don't plant many.

Still too wet here to plant anything, raining today again. The forecast is looking better though - fingers crossed. Now, where did I put those chitting trays from last year........

Glad you've had a good weekend, Wonky.

Had full sun forecast for today, but it's been raining. Seems to have rained nearly every day this winter. Just attempted to walk on the lawn, it's like a sodden sponge. Haven't even cut the old leaves off the hellebores. Off to sunny Norfolk on Tuesday.

  • Hello folks!

It's still coldish (4C max today), but at least it's dry.  Still too soggy out to do anything other than remove leaves from paths and patio, but it looks more loved... and I could admire the hellebore buds just opening, and buds swelling on lots of shrubs too.  image

OH is watching Spurs v Rochdale on TV and is getting excited - Rochdale are in the lead, 63 places below Spurs in the league but not outplayed.  Nice to see a local team doing well, even if they are the wrong side of the Yorks/Lancs boundary!

Is your octopus coming together, Dove?  The sewing up is definitely the worst thing about knitting - and a plus when it comes to knitting socks is NO SEAMS.  image

Hope it's drier for you in Norfolk, Lizzie - and hope OH's cataract operation goes smoothly.

I'm feeling virtuous cos I've just cleaned the oven...  image

What a busy lot you have all been today

hope Joyce has been “discharged” what a trooper to step in like that

Dove I too have been pruning  Managed to get at a very tall rose that had snow damage and have got the  damaged rhodi sorted out a bit However there is a long long way to go?

OH has chosen his spuds and they are all sitting chatting, oops chitting!

Wonky that books sounds super, lucky you

Obelixx did you get any bargains?

Lizzie hope the cataract for oh goes well?

It seems our warm and sunny week has changed to a wet start and then freezing from Tuesday onward and for several days.   Brrr!  Had been looking forward to starting some potting on since I can't kneel to weed but I may wimp out altho I'll have to go and rescue things like the baby asparagus that have started shooting.

Might have to get Rasta's jumper out for after her haircut on Tuesday pm.   She looks like a woolly bear at the mo so it needs doing.

I have just jointed a chicken and made coq au vin for OH.  It now gets a long, slow cook in the oven which leaves me free to make a chocolate carrot cake for tomorrow.  Definitely need chocolate in miserable weather but pud tonight will be flambéed pineapple.  Rum works too when it's mis.

Have an enjoyable evening.  Keep warm.

Afternoon all,  oven cleaning is horrible Liri so you should feel very virtuous.  Had a lovely walk at Dudmaston Hall this morning.  I've started a new garden visit 2018 thread and posted a few piccies on there.  No sunshine but at least it didn't rain (and the scone was very nice)image.

Just watching some TV and checking out some plant porn, although I have no spare cash to spend.  I'll just have to 'window shop'.
