Interestingly (and confusingly), Periparus ater is called 'coal tit' in English and 'mésange noire' in French, whereas Parus major is called 'great tit' in English and 'mésange charbonnière' in French.
Hello all. Not been around much as have been ill with mystery horribleness on Friday and Saturday, then migraine until today. Revision has gone out of the window. I'm just glad at last to be upright and able to open my eyes for more than a few seconds today. Hope everyone is well, will try to catch up a bit.

Oh what a bu$$er Hosta I did wonder about your tunnels ...... the storm was pretty rambunctious even here ... much worse down your way. I think it's a miracle the damage isn't worse, given the way the winds whipped around.
Glad you're home safe and sound tho' ((hugs)) xx

The Brits and the French have always managed to make a confusion out of something quite simple whenever we get together ... it's like family

We stopped at one of my old suppliers on the way through Surrey and I bought some plants.
Iris Ensata White Ladies.
Iris Louisiana Black Gamecock
Iris Sibirica Blue King
Iris S. Butter and Sugar
Iris S. Perry's Blue
Iris S. Ruffled Velvet
Iris S. Silver Edge
Lobelia Cardinalis Queen Victoria
Lobelia C. Russian Princess.
20 plants in total for £58.32. I reckon I can split every one of them into more plants.
Sounds a bargain!
I shall google some of those after supper
