Obelixx, the temp today was only about 30, so Jessie and I spent most of it inside. She is so quick, that she very nearly got one of the Skinks. I yelled and she put the brakes on. Phew.
she did manage to get me out of bed at 9 o’clock. Jumped onto our bed. Hubby was at the fire station cooking breakfasts for campers for Australia Day.
Glad baby grandson didn't have to be kept in hospital, Lily P.
We have to go out for supplies, won't be buying Nutella. May buy sugar, if there are any bitter oranges for marmalade. Also pizza toppings, cheese, veg, ham etc. to take to daughter 1 (Grublet) tomorrow. They are hosting Son 1's (Bongo) birthday and my 4 children and 11 grandchildren will be there.
A year ago they bought a big old farmhouse near Poitiers that needed a lot of work. SIL has been very busy putting up internal walls so now they have just enough bedrooms to host the family, if we all squash up a bit. SIL found an old bread oven that he's cleaned up and it makes great pizzas.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Glad your grandson wasn't kept in hospital, LilyP. Hope he's soon back to normal (ie running his mum ragged!) and that you and OH have a restful break.
"Temp only about 30" you say, Pat... I'd be prostrate well before 30. But I'm glad you're having fun with Jessie, even if she's a bit too interested in the wildlife! And yes, La Palma is volcanic - the bit in the photo is a huge caldera, formed by erosion of a lot of volcanic craters. The crater in the south of the island (this photo was taken in the north) last erupted in 1971. I'll put some more photos on the appropriate thread when I've done the washing, shopping etc... and stroked the cat some more. She's a bit needy when we've been away!
I was the one struggling with tax, Obelixx. I liked your Belgian taxpayer story - but I suspect most tax officials have no sense of humour... (Apologies to anyone on here who sees that comment as a personal affront. ) I've just paid OH's capital gains (after we gave away our cottage) so hopefully we can get back to a bit of normal life.
Actually, OH is feeling grumpy cos he's just come back from the doc. They're not altogether happy with his post-cellulitis leg, so he's got another 10 day course of antibiotics. We managed walks up to 10K most days on holiday, so it's not too bad - but it still swells and reddens alarmingly. It's a long process, I think.
Hope you're all enjoying some good weather today...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Meant to say, palm oil seems to be in the most unlikely items - not just food, either.
I'm happy that my local SM (name beginning with M and ending in S, found mostly in the north) now do an own-brand peanut butter containing nothing but peanuts, about half the price of the health food varieties.
Ooh, marmalade, BL... I must see if there are Seville oranges in the market.

Happy Australia day Pat. So good of your country to share your day with me & a comfort to know that i'll "always be younger than you" (the country that is)
Good news about the grandson and hope he doesn't get any more chest infections.
Busy - I have bought some blood oranges to make blood orange and chili marmalade - to serve with cold meats and sausages - but won't have time now before I leave to see Possum in Paris. Have a great time tomorrow. I rather fancy a bread oven........
Happy Australia Day Pat. Sorry, thought it was tomorrow.
Hope the new antibiotics do the trick Liri. I think my toes might be able to manage 10kms in time for spring walkies. Just a bit tender this morning after an hour of jive, samba and paso last night. All on the toes except for a bit of heel work in paso and that would normally have me sore by the time we get home.
Cosmos' paw seems to be healing and not going rotten like the last one. Put a sock on him yesterday and it took him all of 10 mins to chew it off! Clearly not that sore this time..
No masons so far and it's lunch time now so soup break for me and an airing for the doggies who are sunbathing on the front step.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Obelixx says: It seems there have been mini riots in some parts of France in a supermarket chain that discounted Nutella to about 25% of its normal price. Ludicrous. See original post

Glad Little One is at home LilyP
Don't think I've ever eaten Nutella ... the very thought puts my teeth on edge
We try to avoid Palm oil here too.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Morning all! A lovely sunny one.

Busy...it's a mobile dormitory that's required for family gatherings.
LP....glad GS didn't require admission. Hope he recovers soon.
Enjoy a bit of pampering at the hotel.
Managed to get a good bit of weeding done as I followed the sun round a frosted part of the garden. Good to see the promise of lots of spring flowers.
Stupid people!
