We put one log in ours last night, wanting a bit of extra warmth with lovely flames.  Even that was suffocatingly hot but so much better than being cold.  At the mo we're using artificial logs of compressed material that we bought last year.  We're hoping that when our own wood is dry enough to burn it will be less intense.

  • Heating just gone on here too.  It's chilly without.

Our neighbours make blocks of compressed newspaper and dry them in the greenhouse over the summer (there's hardly room for the tomatoes) and burn them on the woodburner ... I've no idea how efficient they are.

Supper will be macaroni cheese ............. I'll make it in a few minutes and pop it in the oven when OH gets home.  Comfort food image

Definitely a heating-on day here. Excuse 1: OH working from home, 2: miserable and rainy out, 3: cats like it.

Talk of cooking making me think I should take advantage of gloomy day with no plans and do some bakes and stews for the week ahead...

Chicken curry here. It certainly did the job. image

As usual we got carried away with some music on TV  and it’s now 1.30am, and we’re only just now  in bed. No wonder I find it hard to get up in the morning.  Our wood heater has been on tonight as well.

    Night all.

The rain hasn't stopped all day but Hubby's spreadsheet is now complete and ready to be emailed to accountant on Monday.

Work have called. I DON'T have the shortest route tomorrow afternoon so I've no idea what time I'll finish until I turn up in the morning.

I've also been roped into working Monday pm.

    So much for steely resolve.

One driver is working out his notice by taking his accrued holiday, so won't be back . One of the new drivers found a new job whilst waiting for the cogs to turn at Waitrose , so won't even be starting, and I'm off on holiday on the 20th. Fun times ahead on Deliver methinks.

Have a very good sleep and then a lovely time visiting Chicklet and her new surroundings.  Lots of fun to be had.  I love my Kindle too.

It's been a murky afternoon here.  OH took the dogs for a run on the beach which was deserted apart from a few kite surfers and one other brave couple with a boxer, also off lead.   Bonzo played and raced all over with him and then they ran rings round Rasta which is amazing.  Normally he's manic when there are other dogs, especially when he's on the lead.  Progress!    Both dogs now flolopped on a sofa fast asleep.

I stayed behind to pot up some stuff for the plant swap tomorrow.  Need to make us a picnic lunch while dinner's cooking tonight.  Crispy, sticky spare ribs with loads of veggie stir fry.

Hosta, be careful what you say in front of managers or they'll have you managing rostas!
