I don't hate Satnavs either - mines really useful, i love the way it tells me which lane I need to be in on motorways when there's a change in direction coming up But I always have a road atlas too and check it if I'm going somewhere new, and as Hosta says I use my brain too. I also keep the satnav regularly updated so it knows about new roads and roundabouts etc.
sharp frost here too ... The first of the winter. I sent Wonky a text last night to warn her
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Ice on the car windscreen here this morning. I was picking dahlias yesterday - last night may have finally done for them for the year. My cotinus is looking really sad this year. I think it maybe didn't like the recent stormy weather - hope I'm not going to lose it. It normally is glorious in autumn - brilliant red - it's dead and brown this year
Sat navs in Devon - it's roughly 2 miles (on the public road) from one end of our postcode to the other and almost all of the houses in it are accessed from private tracks so the sat nav has no idea which one you get to from where. We used to regularly get vans turning up looking for the next house along - which involves driving back up the 3/4 mile farm track from us to the road then along the road for a mile or so and then down their 1/2 mile farm track. We can see their house from the end of the garden, but it would take nearly ten minutes to drive to it. So we put up a big sign at the end of our track with the names of the 4 houses that are along it and we don't generally get commercial vans getting it wrong now. We did get some people turn up - they actually came through our garden gate and drove up the drive to our front door - looking for somewhere completely different. I was running round trying to catch our dogs (which they had let out by leaving the gate open) while Mr and Mrs sat in their car arguing about who had put the wrong postcode in the sat nav. I really would have thought they could have realised there was a mistake sometime earlier in that journey.
Dug up all my salsify and scorzonera this weekend - had some roasted with the potatoes to go with our roast rib of beef last night
Better get to work now though....

Morning all.
Cedric is in the city today too, Dove. Going to pick up some red car touch up paint for me from Halfords and he'll have a wander round as well.
1° here, no frost at 8am.
I'm sorting through photos to get some developed for the album.
Good luck, punkdoc, hope the visit to the place goes well.
