Pat, your tanks are huge! How many do you have? Do you have piped water or is it all from the tanks? Glenys said she was on water rationing 55L each a day. One of your tanks would last around 490 days at that rate for 1 person.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
No town water supply in this valley BusyL. Five large tanks. We collect rain water in the roof gutters, which goes down the hill to three of the tanks, then when they get full, Hubby pumps it up to two tanks on top of the hill. That water runs down to our house (gravity feed not pumps). That’s why we get a bit obsessed by lack of rain.
Glad chicklet is keeping you up to date with the weather, Chicky.

I think the main problem is that our Tax rules are so complicated , my niece is training to be a tax consultant and the current rules run to a 1000 pages !!! That makes it easy to find ways to avoid it
Just got back from dentist and 2 fillings repaired
Going to watch Lincoln City FC tonight , interesting that 1 of the Directors lives in South Africa
Even tax people don't understand tax laws. OH has had several "adjustments" to his Belgian pension following interventions from their tax section. It would certainly help if they were paid better to go after the big tax dodgers.
We had a frost this morning!! Nothing serious but white crispy bits all over. Not enough to bother the dahlias in pots or the osteospermums in sunny beds or the fancy fuchsias in pots against the house wall but flipping cold. Rasta won't be at all impressed when she comes out from the hairdresser's after being shorn this pm.
Cosmos' home made sock worked very well tho he certainly did his best to fight having it put on. Took him 12 hours to get off so not bad. He was so pleased with himself he dived downstairs and out thru the new cat flap - he's only seen it once each way before so really very clever for a kitten who's been behaving like a blonde since we had him - except for being clever with the doggies.
Lots of birds about today and probably another frost tonight so I need to go and top up the feeders at the front.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Morning all.
Hosta hugs for Punkdoc., and to mrs punkdoc.
Chicky , that weather looks perfect. We will be in the air to The Gambia 2 weeks from now and it's about 35C there. Can't wait. Have a wonderful time.
Rain overnight here and still raining now. I'm so glad we've been clearing grass/ leaves so assiduously of late.
Coal face at 12 .
Can't cope with that sort of heat ... I just melt ........
Blackbirds are back in our garden, fossicking around under the decaying rhubarb leaves and getting a drink from the birdbath
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I've just popped into work.
Tills have all crashed, credit / debit cards not working , but I'm driving this afternoon.
2 drops between 3 and 4
1 drop between 5 and 6 and
1 drop between 6 and 7.
I've got my most recent Garden magazine to read between times.

Here's a thought re tax avoidance / evasion.
Make it a criminal offence not only to take part in one of these dodgy schemes, but also an offence to create / promote them.
Set up a team of lawers/ accountants to investigate and pay them a percentage of what HMRC gets back.
Lewis Hamilton's £3.75m VAT on his jet would net them £375,000 if they got 10% "commission"
No win , no fee. They'd only be paid once HMRC recovers the money.
If you earn money in a country : you should pay tax in THAT country.
e.g. I wonder how much tax is paid by "non dom" premiership footballers/ club owners who ship their money to their home countries.

I've just read this on BBC Website.

"If we need to change our processes, our monitoring or even our legislation to ensure that is the case in the future then I will take action to do so," Mr Gorst told the BBC."
I almost fell off my chair laughing.
