Hope you do get out in time to enjoy time with friends and hubby Hosta.
A wormery is something I've only recently realised I can probably manage here as it won't get frozen to death and if a frost is forecast, a blanket will suffice. Research needed. Do I really need one given the compost heaps and lack of cooked food waste?
It's gone very grey and dark here now. Not enticing for a walk on the beach as OH was planning. Maybe it'll have improved by the time the chilli jam has reduced and been potted up.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

I got in at 8 this morning and one of my colleagues had already removed the 7pm -8pm delivery from my route so , if I get out nice and early I might be home by 5.30 - 6pm which is within acceptable parameters
Hosta....I was going to start my sentence with ......Jesus Hosta !!!!......but I thought better of it ......how many hours do you actually work .......you never seem to sleep ......you'er always on the go .......is there a secret ......please
Not getting out much, and only have a phone that I use for talking to people on, I was amazed then getting really annoyed in Singapore at all the people with selfie sticks. In the cloud dome, I was getting ready to push the next person doing a 360 with a selfie stick about to poke someones eye out, over a balcony. The swimming pool in the hotel was the same. Only used for posing. Does anyone swim in these infinity pools? Girls striking a pose and boyfriend taking photo after photo, not of the view but of the person. Narcissistic didn't start to cover it. Me muttering," too much acne, too much makeup, not enough clothes, vertically challenged, you're never going to be a model darling"
I saw that infinity pool on TV recently on a hotels programme with Giles Coren and Monica G??and had to wonder why you would want to frolic in a pool high up and take stupid photos when there was so much to see and do and eat and enjoy in the vicinity down below.

Hmm ... the weatherperson hasn't lived up to his promises ... this morning it was all 'dry and sunny' .... now apparently there's a caveat he didn't mention earlier ... those of us exposed to the North Sea can expect cloud, rain and chilly wind .......... expect........ it's been here for quite some time
Ha! I checked the weather for Bilbao earlier in the week. Next week was supposed to be cloudy and 13Cish. Now they've decided it's going to be sunny and 23Cish. Won't need my new coat then!
Roast chuck here too but spatchcocked and then spiced and some form of Swiss chard with romanesco/broccoli/Savoy cabbage. I have a yen for Pan Haggerty but no potatoes so will maybe do us a veggie dinner upon my return.

When I was doing my post grad cert ed I shared a house in Matlock with 3 other students. None of us had any money, but one girl's uncle had a farm and gave her bags of cattle potatoes. We cut out the manky bits and cooked them up with onions and the cheapest cheese we could get from the International Stores (anyone remember them?) We called it foot cheese cos that's what it smelled like! We mostly lived on that and 'splodge' which was either mince or chocolate custard. We did have a roast on Sundays though as it worked out the cheapest way to feed all of us and any guests we might have.
It was warming food and needed to be as we could only afford to feed the meter for the gas fire in the front room, but our house was the unofficial meeting place for everyone on our course as most of the others were in 'digs' It was beer and darts in the back room and coffee and chess in the front, lots of music talk and laughter and enough bodies to generate heat
I remember cooking onion, bacon and potato hotpot for 23 friends (members of the choir where I met OH), on my gas ring, as an undergraduate. I bought a second-hand jam pan from Cambridge market for the purpose, and used a recipe from "The Pauper's Cookbook" where they gave a star to any recipe costing less than 2 shillings a head. Happy days...
I still make the hotpot occasionally, and it is indeed very cheap, using bacon offcuts. Tastes better cooked in the oven though... and I still have the jam pan, which I now use... to make jam.
And yes, I remember the International Stores.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Indeed so Joyce. I've just messaged her to let her know they have Hubby to themselves until I get back.

Am I getting old or is it just me?

Never mind ... I've made some bannocks and now this http://www.geniuskitchen.com/recipe/indian-style-stuffed-roast-chicken-302800 is in the oven for our supper ... we'll have it with a 'version' of sag aloo made with chard from the garden.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
F'bones, some people spend their entire holiday posing round a hotel pool. They could be anywhere.
No interest in places to visit.

That sounds a lot of fun, Buttercupdays.
