I have a cricket and two newts.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

Not common @wild edges, but we get them in a couple of places round us.

    I'd love a newt.

    Excellent pictures everyone  :)

Really liking the Little Egret, Doc...a very smart bird.

Not sure what this is, Fly, Wasp or something else, the single antennae is really throwing me.

    Lovely aren't they Sheps.
I can remember when they were unheard of in the UK., and now they are quite common.

This is an interesting but tricky one. I think it's a bit damaged and is missing half its face which is making it harder. It looks like its mandibles have been ripped off along with the antennae. Close call with a bird maybe.

I think it's an ichneumon but I'm not ruling out a sawfly. Something similar to this

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Here's the list of UK recorded Ichneumons by the way so you can see the scope of the problem identifying them.

Bent down to 're-position' a snail and came across this newt. Havent seen any for a while so a nice surprise.

Gardening. The cause of, and solution to, all of my problems.
  • It's surprising what you can find in the garden after dark, well spotted stewy - it's a good size too.
