A TV addict turtle dove has made its "nest" on my neighbour's TV aerial. You can hardly call it a nest, just a few twigs put together, but you can spot some flowers on the right in the close-up, for decorative purposes. ;)

It's been sitting there for quite a few days, in the heat, while I keep to the shade.

I'm sorry to report that the turtle dove has decided to give up on its Tv aerial nest, and has moved away!
He was probably getting a 'poor reception' from the homeowners  :#

We once visited a palace in India where a pigeon had made a nest in a crystal chandelier.

I posted these on PJ's Insect thread, but I thought I'd share them here too.

And a new shot, not featured on PJ's thread, of a Cinnamon Bug.

Excellent. What kind of lens? Been thinking of getting a lens for macro stuff for my old Canon 40D.
Hi @RaspberryKiller ...pleased you like them.

The lens used was a Canon 100mm f2.8 USM Macro with a Raynox 150 attached.

Very unusual nesting site but I'm afraid it was the much more common Collared Dove and not a Turtle Dove.

Turtle Dove in Norfolk, have posted this before.
How can you lie there and think of England

  • We don't have the large variety of wildlife here that most of you enjoy, so this is the best I can offer at the moment.  We love the hogs and have up to 5  during the evening and the cat (Percy) is reasonably well behaved most of the time.

Percy looks like he already touched the spikes. :D
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
  • This little guy was in the school playing field this afternoon probably the first rain he /she has ever seen

That's lovely GD - and he/they clearly enjoy the hospitality. Do you have very few neighbours round you? Nice when you can get them all to yourself  ;)
Very cute Hhog. Until they get in your garden and eat everything!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
