Have a few water trays one near the house and one at the top of the garden, did have grey squirrel problems but a little axle grease on the feeder pole soon deterred them, one of our jokes is dogs next door have bones in their garden, carrion crows pick them up and land them on the flat roof, with a clunk, the area below the feeders is paved so we put seed there for ground feeders.

@wild edges  Photos of the famous longnosed, sunglassed, hog bristl bee? I think you have been at the Photoshop again. ;)
You're probably not going to believe this is real then :# A wasp throwing its arms up in despair as its flower is invaded by a bumbling bee

Also the best picture of a fly's hairy bum that I've ever taken

Good grief. A bristle fly with a tail? Yours are some of the ugliest insects I've ever seen. And aesthetic standards don't even apply to insects. Some kind of Tachinid Flies?

The aptly named tachinidae grossa in that case.

This soldier beetle looks like he's checking his watch.

    Fly on the fence.

Right click it to enlarge, gives a better view of the detail in the eyes.

That's one crazy nose / thing / protuberance. Very Austin Powers.

I saw this lizard on my walk yesterday. Portable telephone picture again. I wish I'd taken a better camera but it let me get very close.

  • A lovely picture Wild Edges, was it unexpected or had it been seen before? We have one or two places where green lizards have been seen on the island, although I haven't been so lucky to spot one myself.
