DL - your BH has my OH's sympathy and you have mine. There's nothing you can do but watch them suffer through it . Hope she's quickly feeling better and you can enjoy the rest of the holiday,
We've got that sort of rain too, Ob, but frankly could happily do without it

I coped with beach hols for years because they make Possum happy and OH needed the rest. However, not just any beach will do. We found our pleasure in Tuscany - beach split into privately run bagnos which provide parasols, deck chairs and sunbeds, walk boards so feet don't burn on the sand, showers and cabins for changing in and for leaving all the sea salt and sand covered stuff at the end of the day. Most importantly, capuccinos o tap plus other refreshments and food if you're too lazy to pack a picnic or walk to restaurant. The other essentials were being so close to Pisa, Lucca, Florence and other places of interest for days out plus good local markets and a whole Italian family vibe in the local restaurants.
I managed a whole 2 hours sat on a beach this summer with Possum, people watching while she swam and sun bathed. That's my limit. I'll stick to walking them with the dogs now the season has ended and we can take them to any beach.
Joyce - I'm hoping I won't need to water while OH is away because I have other activities in mind that are best presented as done deeds or under way........... Rain still overhead but with low sun from the west. Beautiful light.

Obs, I've been telling you for months, we've got rain to spare here. All you had to do was come and get it.
Dacha, I hope BH gets better soon. Nothing worse than being poorly on holiday, you just want your own bed.
My " episodes" are thought to be kidney stones, but I've been xrayed, ultrasounded, prodded, CT scanned . I've even been rushed to hospital with the blue flashing lights going.
Last month I had a visit to the Endocrinology dept for test there, Nowt.
Nobody can find anything to pin it down.
The sun is shining and Hubby is home from the shop. I'm thinking an early bath and sit and watch a bit of telly then bedtime. Hopefully I'll be asleep before 3am tonight.
Horrid whats happened in London, could have been so much worse! Kind of your son to support his apprentice home Lilyp, she must be understandably shaken and upset.
Hope everyone here keeps out of cities, I agree with you Fairy, I wouldn't live in one if I was paid, in fact can't see me ever visiting London again, now Prince won't be performing again, no reason to go, plenty of lovely gardens in the countryside and Chelsea is too commercial for me now and way out of my budget anyway!
Clari, Dove is allowing minimal movement but I'm just about allowed to type now...gently with straight hands!
DL, hope your son finds a treatment that works for him, its a bit hit and miss but I'm happy to repost great improvement from the injection in the first hand, I'll keep you posted!
Lirio, been a lovely day with Dove thanks, hop hour weather held for your gardening, we have soggy drizzle now!
Hazel I think my hands aged about fifteen years in the five months I've been in this job! Not sure its the job to see me into retirement! But very happy to have a real improvement thanks!
Raisingirl, loved the mental image of loads of holes of frustration being filled with random trees! I'd take her advice if I was you Pdoc!
Good idea having a lazy afternoon Obelixx, you must be bushed from your roadtrip! Love to see a pic of the dafs!
Hosta, glad your daughter is safe and well, good of her to stop you worrying!
Joyce I'm with you, no beach holiday, can't lay down and do nothing! Drives me potty!
Had a lovely day with Dove, she's home safely now bit of shopping done, coffee drunk, chatted, garden viewed, hair expertly dyed roots by Dove, thanks Dove slumped on the sofa with a cuppa.
Hope everyone has the weekend they want! and the weather to go with it!
I can see i am going to have to come down to make sure you get sorted, Hosta.
Funny thing happened this pm. I was sitting in the garden and a bloke came down the drive, came over to me saying he was lost.
It transpired he was a "garden designer ". He spent 20 minutes walking round some of the garden, made some nice comments, but did not know the name of any of the plants.
Afterwards he showed me a portfolio of his work, lovely, as long as you don't like plants, but do like hard landscaping, with the occassional palm tree and Cordylline.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
My sister and her OH have left, we had a lovely time together, talked a lot. She thinks our cottage is lovely. Yesterday we had a light salady lunch here, having chatted all morning then we went to this water garden, which was lovely. We saw a kingfisher. www.gooderstonewatergardens.co.uk/ In the evening we all went to our favourite local pub for dinner. They were surprised when we arrived as they had been there before when on a previous holiday.
Today we visited the village of Hingham where some of our ancestors are buried in the church, had a coffee in the tea room, looked round the antique shop. Then we went to Wyken Hall Gardens, wykenvineyards.co.uk/gardens/ had lunch there and started to look at the garden but it started to pour with rain, so my sister and her OH left, they thought it would be best to get to the Dartford Crossing before rush hour. OH and I looked around the gift shop.
I watched the last 2 episodes of Trust Me when we got back.
Going to read back over the last 2 days.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Hope that passes soon DL and your BH can enjoy her hols. You too.
We have rain!! lots of lovely, heavy, fat vertical drops with some hail. Proper soaking in stuff. Yippee!
No need for the hose when OH is away in Brittany Obellixx, if the rain continues.
Dacha - hope your OH will better soon and that you both enjoy your holiday.
A beach holiday has no appeal for me though.
