    Punkdoc.

My ex, and her 2 sisters met  their father after 35 years. She and one sister carried on seeing him, but after a while the other sister refused and wanted " nothing to do with him"

Beware any potential friction with your sisters.

Sorry, just another factor to consider perhaps.

Good luck in which ever path you choose.

    OMG !!

After a rubbish week of sleepless nights, I went to bed at 8.45 last night and fell asleep and didn't wake until 5am.

I lay on the bed at 12 noon, and POOF!!!! it was 1.30!

    How did that happen?image

Just rejoice in it Hosta - and keep an even keel....image

Oh so difficult, doc, but you have to do what you have to do. I must admit, I felt quite sad when you said your sisters didn't want to know. I assume it isn't the half brother's fault that you only know about him now, but there can be all sorts of reasons for people not getting in contact. I think you're doing the right thing in meeting him - otherwise it'll always be a case of 'what if'. There's a good saying ' regret the things you do, not the things you don't'. I reckon that's pretty sound. Good luck with it anyway. image

I put the heating on this morning for fifteen minutes. It was barely scraping double figures outside. A few bright spells since  - but only for a few minutes then the rain comes back on. Never got above twelve yesterday, so at least it's a couple of degrees warmer. We usually get some decent weather in early September. Ho hum. image

Lovely photos Obs. I love a chateau and a formal garden. 'Piano nobile' and all that  image

Must look at your other pix  image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

  • Clari and Puncdoc that exactly what I said, Hosta, wow, you got some sleep! Well, done, I read in the Daily Mail health pages a few days ago, make Banana tea, (tryptophan)  I made it, went to bed at 11pm was still awake at 4, it seems my body goes into revolt if I try to use anything to sleep.  I tried Night Nurse a few months ago, andf was bouncing off the ceiling all night!

Hurrah, our friends are going to arrive in The Gambia the day after we do.

They're staying at a hotel within walking distance.

Lovely chateau photos, Obelix. I've been to Chenonceau, beautiful gardens, and Amboise but only seen Azay le Rideau in passing, looked romantic.

We've just been to Norwich via the park and ride. Took the hassle out of driving in the city and parking. Walked to the river and explored bits we hadn't been to before. When we arrived back at our cottage there was a huge downpour with hail, had to sit in the car for a bit.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
