Also 'pottering' today - as back pain allows! Just noting what needs to be protected over winter. I don't have a greenhouse so it's either under the potting table/plant icu, by the back door (slight roof/porch) or a few can come indoors.
My Autumn flowering Phlox have been munched by something (I'm looking at you slugs) so one has been transplanted to the plant icu.
One goodie though, my French Lavender was looking very bedraggled and leggy so I gave it a severe haircut and left it in a sunny spot a couple of months ago and now it's growing well and has repeat-flowered!
Heroic is the word. 2000 h is a lot of wildlife and plants lost.
Have come in to research rosa Traviata which was a present from senior SIL bought after I left for the funeral in July. She needs re-potting in case we don't get the new rose garden sorted and/or have too many for that spot and I had no idea what she likes in terms of sunshine or shade. Looks like sun which is easy. Good healthy looking plant.
Keep finding and crunching snails as I go round each pot. Greedy beggars no more!
Have also played with my brand new Sneeboer to plant out an aquilegia which had seeded into a rose pot and tried to take over. Lovely new toy and I hope Scarborough Fair will be happier now.
Good news about your lavender AR.

Oh Pat what a misguided farmer and what a horrific scar on the landscape for the wildlife.
Well done to your OH and his team. I hope everything is suitably dampened down very soon.
Our house guest has arrived and is currently stretched out on the rug; two dogs certainly increases trip hazard issues especially in the kitchen when you get near the pantry / dehydrator / fridge / any cupboard that looks like it might contain food. Apparently she can't eat lamb so tomorrow's roast will be pork based; spoilt much?!
Thank goodness for people like your hubby. Some folk just don't seem to stop and think, do they?
In the absence of a hill, I've been out finishing some bits at the pond, planting etc, and hacking back the buddleias and generally tidying. It's been quite warm, about 15 or so, and ideal for a bit of grafting. Sharp breeze so the washing's nicely dried too. Black clouds rolling in now.
No chance of one tomorrow Liri - it's to be seven shades of sh**e. Heavy rain as well as fog. The only plus is that the winds are to be around 20mph, about half what they were today. I don't mind high wind, although it means a harder shift, but it's only an issue when there's exposure.
Hope doc is ok
Watching The Stones from Hyde Park a few years ago. Old Mick is such a pro. Could just do with some vaseline for the tv screen....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Well hello, I’m awake too, but then I really should be at 9.40 am. I hope you two have managed to nod off by now. Thinking about getting up and having some breakfast.
3.30 pm and no one on yet - it must be Sunday morning!
Unbelievably windy here. I’ve managed to hear some of the communications between the main fire control, and the various trucks. I gather they got aircraft to help because they were talking about fuel for them. I’ve managed to pick up Hubby’s voice on the radio a couple of times, so I know he’s ok.

Jolls Holland was excellent to-night, especially Foo Fighters.

sunny and windy out.
Clari, your dog visitor sounds as though she has a nice relaxed nature. I still miss my little poodle. Such loving company.
