I think "a real pea-souper" was the description of the greeny yellow smog we used to get in London in the 1950s, before the Clean Air Act. Fortunately a thing of the past... fog now is generally less polluted. We have thick mist? or maybe thin fog - here at the moment.
Hope Chicky is warmer than I was early this morning, when the temperature dropped to 4.2. Fairy, as well! Though cool is preferable to hot any day, in my book; the maximum temperature we recorded in the garden this summer was 22, which is quite warm enough for me. (Sorry, Hosta. When's your next holiday in the sun?)
We arranged to feed next door's cats for a few days while they were away; they should have been back late last night. They're not. How long do I leave the moggies (currently waiting patiently on my doorstep) before I find another tin of food, I wonder...
Today's the day for our explanatory walk in the park, with the project leader for the Lottery Fund scheme, the park volunteers, and any members of the public who care to come & find out what is planned. Hopefully the mist will have lifted by late morning when the walk starts.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Mine must be valley fog then. I live in a little natural amphitheatre. You have to be careful what you say too because voices carry much further than you'd think...

Morning all.
For goodness sake! Pat I read that as "Dinner's on, Spanish bike rice..." I thought you'd gone all fancy!
What's the difference between fog and cloud when one is sitting in the middle of it. Outside my windows it's like pea soup!
Morning all.
Pea soup here too. Hope it clears for my BBQ or no one will want to eat on the terrace. Must get on, busy day.
Why is fog referred to as pea soup?
Have never seen green fog!
I suppose the green leaves of the trees are showing murkily through it! And you can't see through pea soup either. Should be mushroom soup!
You me lost me too!
We are having fish, potato wedges, steamed corn, Brussels sprouts, peas, etc. yummy.
Well after all that the soup is clearing and it's mostly only peas left.
I WILL get my grass cut today!

I've just read an interesting Met Office page on fog:
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/learning/fog
...well, interesting if you're into that kind of thing...

Thanks for that Liri.
