I agree that the first cuppa is the best. Love it.

Hope you two have a good day.

Hubby just got a phone call. There is a tree on fire on the way to town, so could he go and tend to it. He tried ringing everyone he knew who wasn’t out at the big fire, and no luck, so he’s gone on his own. With my sharp words ringing in his ears about being careful of falling trees.  Not that he doesn’t know more about these things than I do, but it doesn’t hurt to say it.

There is a prediction of rain tomorrow, but I’m not that confident about their predictions. It actually makes things more difficult in a bushfire situation because they are usually driving on newly dozed tracks through the bush. So if it rains they can get bogged or slip away, etc. crazy, is t it?

Oh yes, while I think of it, I use my lemon verbena for pot pourie. Lovely odour when crushed between hands, especially with some dried lavender heads.

Pat: I tried to post yesterday but it wouldn't let me. I was so glad when I heard your OH was safe. Having worked with the fire service (and heard many tales) I have too many potential scenarios in my head I couldn't rest easy.

SO TELL HIM HE'D BETTER BE BLOODY CAREFUL TODAY!!

I got the garden mostly sorted for autumn yesterday while my darling partner decided Sunday afternoon a are the ideal time for laying floors in the lounge. It looks brilliant and just needs finishing off. Both dogs seem to approve though our guest so was tired she missed out on our rather later than planned (all sofas etc. We're piled in to the kitchen) roast dinner! I've never seen her not wake up for food before. She seems to be navigating the house fine and has picked a route around the garden too which is quite comical.

As an experiment this year I tried growing tomatoes both inside and out; didn't get a single tomato from my outdoor plants successfully turn red. I did seem to do really well at growing slugs this year however. For the amount of frogs we have you'd think slugs would be no problem but they have been rather lacking in their duties.

Don’t worry Clari. You said it in a way I did with him. Almost the exact words, too.image

Just heard him call into firecom, to say that the person who had lit the tree, a land owner, and that he is standing by and has it in control, so Hubby can come back. I do know that that particular person lost his wife earlier this year so she isn’t there to nag him. Not sure what she died from, but think it was cancer.

Oh Pat....I suppose your hubby is the way he is, and most of the time - that's a very good thing. He can't help but help.   image

Yes - first cuppa is the best - no doubt about it.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
