Just another thought ... maybe your father would have been a nicer man had he not been riddled with unacknowledged guilt over his treatment of his first family
He sounds a very unhappy man.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
We are just back from Bury St. Edmunds - again. Would have rung Topbird if I'd had her number! Went to the bank in Diss then OH suggested going back to Bury, we went on Saturday for my birthday lunch, to have more of a look around.
On Saturday I'd posted on the birthday thread - "OH took me out to lunch in Bury Saint Edmunds, fabulous French restaurant (bit home from home!), http://www.maisonbleue.co.uk/ Then to Sea Salt to buy me a pullover he liked the look of, I tried it on, perfect then they told us their tills had gone down and no one could buy anything"
We went to Sea Salt to find they had put aside the jumper, and another I'd tried on that was in the sales, just in case we came back. They gave us a 10% discount for the bother of coming back
Then we looked at the Cathedral and the gardens behind it and we had some lunch in a pub which had a lovely beer called "The Mighty Moose"!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Sounds good Busy. When in Belgium last week I looked for my favourite Nobilo NZ wine but they've stopped stocking it. However, I found another NZ Sauvignon Blanc called Mud House. Couldn't resist. Still trying to identify the best French version. Hard life sometimes.
Well done Joyce too.
Minstrel has got the hump. Came chirrupping in with a mouse offering which she dropped on the rug. Rasta dived in and ate it! Pussy not amused.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

My family has been really boring for generations (at least, as far as I know!), with long-lasting, stable relationships. I feel very lucky.
It rained on us and on the apricot tree. We did a bit of pruning, but it's going to be a good 3-year job to get it back to something like a fan-trained tree. It bears a lot of fruit though, which isn't bad for west Yorks; it's in quite a warm position. However, most of the fruit is borne way above reachable height, and the top of the tree is growing away from the wall.
Wow BL - what a result! It's great to have really good service.
Congrats to Joyce too. Hope the new bed helps you sleep better too.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Thanks Pdoc. Been trying them but supplies and flavours are inconsistent which is why I like O and NZ wines. You know what you're getting each time.
