Don't worry all I'll be claiming the over time back; much much poo is currently hitting the fan at work and the only one talented and down right awesome enough to sort it is me. I just am too brilliant...

... and will be reminding the boss of this on my return.

The winds are picking up here; I'm expecting many trees to be down by the morning.

I'm more worried about my roof Clari, although a tree landing on the roof, is always a possibility.

How can you lie there and think of England

Thought I'd catch up with the news after being away for a while so I  looked on the BBC news channel. There was a woman in a turquoise cocktail frock telling me about refugees in Burma. I decided to try the radio.

    In London. Keen but lazy.

Just catching up on what you'Ve all been up to. Please add my best wishes to Wonky, Dove.

We're off to Canberra this afternoon for appointments early tomorrow morning. Will come home tomorrow afternoon. Hubby managed to find a motel after much searching. I don't know why it was so difficult to find a vacancy. There must be something on that we aren't aware of.

While I think of it, this photo is to demonstrate the hill/valley that I could see the tracks that led down to next door's fence line on the creek. You can see why we were concerned.

not the foreground which is our back fence line, but the one opposite.

    Morning all.

This area had a weather alert for high winds last night but it was calm.

  • Windy today, had to close the dog flap, it was banging.  Listening to Womans Hour yesterday, about the best place to be a woman today.  They came up with that old chesnut that "people in the south of england are unfriendly", and snobbish (I am neither!).  I moved to london in 1970 after marrying first Husband, have always been chatty, (expect you can tell that from here) found people very unfriendly, (you could fall down in the street people would walk over you)that included professionals, when I was pregnant.  I have a friend whose hubby was in the army in Scotland, and he said the scots hated the english, (he felt the same about them!) Went to glasgow twice, found the "locals" absolutely lovelly, standing loooking at bus time table folk of all ages came up asked if they could help.  Edinburgh a few years back also a lovelly experience.  Have had some awful neighbours, and some great ones.  Hope Wonky is OK after her injection.Hubby aske me to make (special) cake today, I make one every week for "work".  One of the chaps got married, been there years, do you know they never even bought him a CARD for Gods sake!  His wifes company gave her a card and a present.

Wasn't too stormy here - hope others avoided damage - hate windy weatherimage

Best wishes to Wonky - hope the injection makes things easier.

Dad's heart op went well - still in intensivecare, but they tell us that is normal.  Hoping to visit tonight, but not sure as he is very sleepy - in which case letting him sleep will be the best thing.  Will decide after a phonecall this afternoon.

Nanny: companies are funny things. I've been at companies where you pretty much just left £50 petty cash in your desk each month because there was a constant stream of requests for money for cards, flowers, gifts for special occasions, cake sales for charity, children's sponsorship forms from school...  to others where Honestly if the receptionist gave birth in the main entrance there'd not have been much more acknowledgement than perhaps stepping over her to get to the coffee machine.

Chicky: glad your dad's operation went well. I hope he's not too uncomfortable and sleeps the day away. You can't be getting in to michief if you're asleep.
