Yes they are different in Scotland but the structure is basically similar now. All those individual city/borough/burgh/parish codes and rules were amalgamated and standardised during the 1980s and since then, EU regulations have substantially affected them as well. They are generally re-issued every 3 to 5 years but a lot of the content doesn't change. Some regulations, especially fire regs, go back centuries and are rather esoteric in their derivation (someone once explained to me why the distance to a fire escape has been set a 45m - it's bizarre, to say the least). Grenfell Tower may affect some of those now. But i expect if you knew what to look for you'd find some rules from those original 17th Century laws are still in there

    Morning all!

Guess who is ON HOLIDAY!! We're staying at home, but have day trips planned, and yes I'm still responding to work emails (my choice - means I won't be slapped in the face with a huge work load on my return) and ... hurrah for lay ins!

Also for anyone who struggles with the whole house work load. "Loose" your other halfs passport somewhere in the house before he is due another work trip to Japan. He's done a grand job finally sorting the office and helping me get behind the sofas etc to clean while he searched for it! ;)

Today I will potter around the garden while we wait for the flooring for the lounge to arrive.

You'll have to get used to waiting for me to appear downstairs in the morning for a while, 'cos I used all my internet allowance on my phone while on holiday ... I could arrange a top up but I'm enjoying an hour or so's reading in bed in the morning and anyway, I'm saving up for another Cornish holiday ... maybe in May this time ... Wonky has said she'll babysit baby tomato plants etc for me if we go away at that time of year image  ... she's off to see the Carpal Tunnel specialist this morning ... her GP has arranged an urgent appointment for her.
