Completely agree pd - I hate it. And I hate shoe shopping, for much the same reason. And the fact that I know I'm supposed to find shopping therapeutic makes the degree of irritation I feel even worse.
I just buy stuff online. It doesn't fit any better but it's much less tiring

Dove glad you might be getting somewhere with your knee.
Regarding the burning tree that was reported to the fire brigade by someone who saw it from the road - apparently the landowner set fire to a stump he wanted to get rid of. When Hubby gotbthere, he was assured that everything was in control. So, he took the fire truck back to the shed and came home.
Then the phone rang (again) and it was the central fire office, yet again, asking what personnel would be available to return to the (big) fire for the next few days. Eyes rolling here. Hubby left a message on our fire captains phone passing the message on, since it’s not Hubby’s role, and we haven’t heard since. I’m tempted to take the phone off the hook tomorrow morning.!
Busyl, hope the -you know what - wasn’t too uncomfortable.
Mammogram wasn't too bad physically, I'm not small (must be much worse if you are dainty). But emotionally a bit tense. Had the mammogram, had to wait half dressed in a cubicle for Doc. But the Xray girl came back and said she was going to take more photos of the right side. Then another wait, different woman came and said Doc wanted an ecography. Waited ages on the table then Doc came, took some time on right side, snapping pics, very quick on left side. But at the end he said it was OK. I will receive results and Xrays by post to take to my GP. So that's it for 2 years, I hope.
Hope Dove's knee gets sorted. When's the scan?

Pat: disconnect the phone!! He'll be no good to anyone if he doesn't rest.
Left the hounds home alone for a little while to see how they'd get on: I don't think either moved an inch. They're now spark out in the lounge: hard life!
I've got some exciting news for my office team tomorrow. It's a long time coming but it is going to be a hellish 5 days while I get everything in place.
I've just had some lunch, rather late... My weeding/rubbish collecting this morning expanded to include "summer" pruning some overgrown espalier apples, which got forgotten earlier in the year. They were planted 6 or 7 years ago in the temporary bed (christened "Pollination Street") which was created when the old medical centre was demolished. There have been loads of plans for development of the area, but nothing has been approved yet, so the trees and fruit bushes remain for the time being - and need looking after! The soft fruit did particularly well this year.
The only time I go shopping for clothes is if there's a wedding in the offing. Otherwise it's charity shops, or if I'm feeling flush, the market... shoes from one company on line because I know they'll fit & be comfortable.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Having spent years working in an office environment that required suits and ties for men and the equivalent "smart" attire for women (but not obligatory heels) I was very happy to embrace t-shirts and jeans with just one or two smarter trousers and tops. Then we started dancing and skirts snuck in. That meant an annual raid on M&S for fair trade t-shirts and any cotton skirts they had on sale and an occasional gander round markets.
Always a nightmare trying to find something more dressy or formal for balls and weddings so I started sewing again and enjoy it more than I have for a long while. Just as well as I have no idea about clothes shops round here. Occasionally I buy cotton tops and tunics online from those Brave people who do bras and clothes for gifted women - always in the sales and I find them very good but all their frocks are way too short for me now I'm 27 and not that short either.
Been having a lovely grubby time cleaning muck and old finishes off a dining table and chairs, rescuing autumn daffs from the masons digger and pruning the lower stems from 2 mophead hydrangeas. OH decided to clear the long grass and weeds from along the north side of the ruin where I've been hiding pots from the heat of the midday sun and discovered they were so shallow rooted they just came up leaving lovely bare soil. I now have a 150cm wide bed along the whole length......... Cardboard for now and then put the pots back to hold it down till I have time to think about how to plant it up.
Clari - our pair are dozy too but it'll soon be time for walkies and that should get them moving.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Clothes shopping, why?
If i like things, they don't fit. If they fit, I don't like them.
It was so much easier when I was working; I either wore a suit, or, surgical scrubs.

Too much to remember, but here goes.
