Oh yes - they're nosy bu**ers, those crickets, Dove....
Neck is almost back to normal LP - thank you
Liri - I love an inversion. Perfect conditions for you to get it. Fabulous when you get above them. I've been lucky enough to experience a few at altitude - never fails to thrill
Hope that cutting works out for you LG. Exciting when you try something like that. I love it when a plan comes together....
I managed a little deadheading etc at lunchtime. Instead of sitting down and eating my lunch, I spotted soemthing needing my attention and managed to tip it onto a hebe cutting. 5 second rule though - well, it's only a bit of compost...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Quite right. The 5 second rule doesn't really apply when it 'falls' into the dog's mouth though. Having had a brief tug of war with my smoked salmon sandwich, the dog got the bits with dog spit on them and I had the rest. Luckily he can't run very fast at the moment

I will confess that in order to show him whose boss I have been known to eat the stolen pizza slice dog spit and all!
Currently watching the bake off (on plus one). I'm not sure if I enjoy watching it or not.
OH is out with work mates tonight. They were meant to be eating at 19:30 and on the 22:00 train home. Their food has only just arrived. I get the feeling I'll be making another trip in to Sheffield to collect him - so who thinks I should pull on my snazziest of Pjams to really impress his mates?
The dog knows that if I go to bed before OH gets home doggy can sleep on the bed and won't get kicked out of the bedroom. Unfortunately this means he's started to take himself to bed long before I have any intention of settling down in the hope of securing his place amongst the pillows. Dogs aren't daft!
We had smoked cooked trout for lunch with my cousin, from the smokehouse in her village, it was yummy. Cousin had made several lovely salads to go with it. We went for a walk after lunch. Ended up staying until after 6pm.
Thank you for the birthday wish, LG.
I think you are often busier than me, Obelixx!
Shall go and post some photos on the gardens we have visited thread, if I can find it.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
What a gorgeous day! Cleaned all the birdbaths out and did a bit of a tidy in the yard. Soon be time to empty the greenhouse toms are very poor now but the celery and the cucumbers still fab
Fairy and Joyce I hope you enjoyed it too.
Clari I hope you get to bed soon and the boys are not too boisterous on the way home!
Busy have you heard anyyhing from DD? Hope her absence is because she is too busy
Dove no crickets here!! Very chilly now in the evenings
Dog and I went on therapet visit today I always learn from my visits and today was no exception. on addresssing a resident as "Mrs" she said "no I never married, I was an unclaimed treasure" I can't help think what a lovely way to think of herself. She is indeed a treasure. So may residents had to give up their dogs when they went into care and they love a hairy cuddle!

I've just finished reading the last several pages and had some laughs as well as a couple of ughs about dog leftovers. The one about the dog getting to bed before you was good. My son says his cat has started getting into bed with him and gradually pushes her back legs against him to push him off the electric blanket!
I thought of a few comments to add, but I don't think they are now in the best part of the brain.
Oh yes, Fordhook Giant - the only one I use and it lasts for at least 2 or 3 years, so don't need to plant new ones each year.
I got stuck into my neglected roses yesterday and have made a good start on hard pruning and re-shaping some of the worst ones. It's a huge job, so I'll need to keep at it for several days (weather permitting). I saw a cabbage white butterfly for the first time this season, so its cocoon must have been in a warm spot. It might not have liked the minus 4 this morning though.

Our Swiss chard has been brilliant this summer and it's still going strong ... we find Foordhook Giant is the best for us.
We love beetroot but didn't get around to sowing any 'cos of my accident ... this year if it wasn't sown by the 21st May it didn't happen

There's a bright green cricket on our sitting room windowpane ... do you think he's watching us
