It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

First immersion trip with 17 scientists (me teaching English conversation) was to Dublin and we did a tasting at Jameson's.    Learned to tell the difference between Bourbon, Scottish blend, Scottish malt and Irish.  I still don't like any of them but we had great fun.

I have finished Possum's new top and she doesn't like it!  Dolman sleeves for ease of movement but she thought it was going to be batwing.  Humph!

Meanwhile it turned out sunny and quite warm but with thundery bits around us - Clouds to the left of me, clouds to the right of me.  Here I am, stuck in the middle with sun.  To paraphrase Steeler's Wheel.

The first of the autumn daffs are in flower round the well but nary a sign of the big clump that was by the gate post.  Not ordering any bulbs but happy to have "impulses" in garden centres later on when I go hunting violas and pansies.

Busy - Lamb  isn't too bad round here and Leclerc had lamb shoulders at 10.95€ a kilo yesterday instead of the usual 15.90.   I have been known to bone it and mince it for koftas since I never found lamb mince in Belgium either..   Possum has discovered she prefers Irish steaks to Limousin or Blonde d'Aquitaine which both grow in fields round here so I'll stock up her freezer for her in Belgium, along with mint jelly for her lamb chops.

    .

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

  • Evening all!

I'm late on here I'm afraid - I spent the whole day in the rental house, scrubbing things.  And when I looked up September Forkers there were already four pages to catch up with!  Lots of happy chat.  image

I enjoyed Carol Klein's bit on Gardener's World tonight; Dove Cottage is beautiful, and only a few miles from here.  Must go again...

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • Sorry Obelixx - didn't answer your question from last night.  When it's icy I'm very careful...  image

That's been fun reading the past couple of pages. I'm lying in bed and not thinking too hard about getting up and hanging some washing out.
