    Morning all.

Grey sky here. I thought it was supposed to be sunny, want to put our king size duvet cover on the line.

Going to the north Norfolk coast today to see my mother's youngest cousin.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Morning, what are you selling Hosta?  Desided to get washing done, up at 6 looked outside, completely dry, at 7, everywhere very wet, couldnt believe it!  however, Hubby, dug up, enlarged new bed, moved plants, am ogoing to cut the bed in half, (its L shaped) and put grass path through, so happy for the rain.  Since then gorgeous, blue sky, sunny, washing out whew!  You can borrow my line Busy-Lizzie!

Morning all (just!). I think I missed saying happy birthday, BL. So: Happy Birthday!

Due to be dry all day, here but very soggy at the moment - I think it must have rained right through the night. Everything looks sodden and is not drying out, despite a bit of sun. I'm going outside in a bit to take the beans down and do some other tidying.

I'm particularly delighted today as a few weeks ago I bit the bullet, with daughter's permission, and cut off a sad and leggy aeonium, as per Monty's instructions on GW. The top bit appears to have survived, the bottom bit is showing a minute green sprout (I had to put my glasses on!) and the middle bit, which we shoved in a pot just in case has lots of tiny sprouty bits too. I'm getting rather keen on this propagation lark (had never taken a cutting until a couple of years ago).

    Have a good afternoon, everyone.

Exciting isn't it LG.  I am currently pondering 2 stems of climbing aster I was given as cuttings on Sunday.   All the info I can find says division so this is going to be an interesting experiment.

Just had a mail from someone I met on Sunday at the garden visits inviting us to go and see their garden and another nearby on Friday.   That'll be interesting as they've had the same drought as us this last year and watched rain passing by.   However there's are well established whereas ours is hardly begun.

Busy - you are being very busy!   Hope your visit went well today.

  • I've just picked all the borlotti beans ... I think they're as dry as they're going to get outside so now they're spread out by the glass wall in the studio ... they're beautiful image

Dove - they're beautiful. And very tasty too - I love them image

The strong winds last week brought down a load of apples, so I've been making herb jellies today. That's 6kg of windfalls to make 4 batches, basil, mint, lemon verbena (bit of an experiment - not tried that one before) all dripping in jelly bags and sage just bubbling away now. Tomorrow will be jelly making and bottling, hopefully, if they all work out.

Then I have to think of something to do with another 6 or 7 kg of bruised apples image. Elderberry jam, for a kg or so. Any other bright ideas?

Possum adores Waitrose mint jelly which we buy at the British supermarket in Waterloo or Everberg back in Belgium.  None here but a garden full or wild apple mint so I made my own which, as yousay Dove, is so much nicer.  Possum had a teeny taste but doesn't like it.   Not sweet or green enough I suspect.

Was going to go and buy furniture restoring oil and seat cushion pads this pm but got distracted and then chappy called to talk about starting our shower extension next week so too late.   Will go tomorrow instead.  Meanwhile, I'm re-organising the dining room and cleaning floors and cuddling dogs who miss their dad.

Good looking beans.   Need to go and pick veggies for dinner this evening.  Lots of cabbage and broccoli full of wildlife cos OH made the beds too wide to net.  That'll be fixed for next year!  Swiss chard and beetroot looking very good and assorted squashes ripening nicely.
