I have high BP, just as Ma did, and take medication for it ... but it shoots up at the GPs .... it used not to, or if it did I used to be able to 'think it down' within a few minutes ... but as I've got older I can't do that any more.
I also find having my BP taken is now very painful ... this is ever since my thyroid packed up ... it's a bit easier now that the nurse uses the old fashioned manual method rather than the 'machine' but it still brings tears to my eyes ... no wonder my BP is erratic.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I think the reason it was high was because of the discomfort in my dratted ear.
ive had this “Tropical Ear” since I lived in Darwin (until 1974) and a grommet was put in 1981. It was supposed to fall out after 6 months, but a bit of scar tissue holds in in, so it means I don’t need antibiotics when it flares up (on a fairly regular basis). This current flair up is triggered, I think, by the flu that is taking ages to completely disappear. my cholesterol level has always been low, so I don’t need statins. I’m aware of the white coat syndrome, but as far as I can tell it’s not the problem. I don’t usually a have aproblem when she takes my Bp reading. Thanks for all your thoughts and suggestions, though. Feeling a bit fed up at the moment. I’m trying to hang out for a second dose of Panadol. Hmmm. If I can make it until bed time, I’ll be able to put it off until tomorrow and I might not need it then.
My dad had white coat hypertension to the point where the doctor refused to let him drive home. It took them ages to catch on and eventually they just didn't bother reading his BP. It would have been a telephone number!!!
Hope the ear settles soon, Pat. Not a "nice" pain... nor is toothache, so hopefully the aftermath of the dentistry will be relatively painless, Obelixx.
Hosta, I'm sure you're full of good ideas. Your garden proves it!
A calendar could indeed be another possibility; a lot of "awareness" meetings have already taken place, and local schoolchildren are lined up to help with planting spring bulbs and wild flowers, but the "official" (rather than "volunteer") organisation is being done by Groundwork and we have to be careful not to tread on their toes. We got a lot of old photos a while ago, and put out a plea in the local paper to see if we could find any pictures of Carr Barn, the farm we did a bit of excavation on - but nobody seems to have any. (It's stuck in the middle of steep woodland, which makes an "accidental" photo less likely.)
It's irritating that the only famous feature of the park at present is the "lucky" dog, which is sited in the footprint of the old mansion... hopefully we'll be able to change that!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Obelixx I think the young dental surgeons are trained to talk us thro things. Mine went into great detail yesterday. Hope you ok, its just my jaw stiff today from being open so long!
Liro sounds as if there are lots of things going on
Busy glad all is well in your return. New horse settled in well?
hope everyone well

Afties all - haven't read back properly, just a quick scan, so I'll just say I hope everyone who is poorly will be on the mend soon. Any kind of pain is a drag, especially teeth. Fairy hugs for anyone who needs them.
Yesterday's bonny day didn't last, unfortunately, and it's rather unpleasant here. Looked like it was clearing up but it changed it's mind. Lovely clear sky last night though.
Lovely pic LP - I was admiring the trees along the road from my local Coop earlier - every shade from yellow and gold through to orange and scarlet. The female blackbirds have scoffed all the rowan berries on two of the trees in the little car park there. I love watching them
No hols here - we work all Bank and local holidays apart from the Christmas/New Year ones when it's quieter.
Good bargains there Hosta.
Glad you didn't have too much work when you got home BL. Makes your break more enjoyable
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Gosh!! Have I had a good idea? It seems so!! Who''d have thought that would happen?
Right, I've started emptying the compost bins onto the "nursery beds"
but rain has stopped play. Raisingirl, you were right.
A bit of lunch , a shave and sort myself out for the coal face at 2.
Almost the weekend folks.

Thanks Liri. . I just have to put up with it. I’m used to after all these years.
