That's slightly sad r'girl - about the guide. I doubt he was expecting that reaction!
Hosta - I'm not remotely surprised. I remember hearing a loud American tourist in Florence comment 'gee, there's - like - a gelato store on every corner'.....
Mind you - we did a fair bit of copying too when it comes to architecture...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Happy Birthday BL enjoy your day. Our daughter has lrt me know we have had 27mm of rain in the night and that our tanks are filled to the brim and we have 2 x 5000, also she had to empty the 1500 tank that we backwash our pool water in and refill. I miss the villages and all that makes a village. We made our way round parts of London last time we was backand went on the eye both in the day and night time trip lovely to see . I am due to go for a glocuse test on thurs as my sugar is not settling down after a cortise injection 5 wks ago. Its raining again so all enjoy your weekend
We did feel a bit sorry for him, so when he got terribly excited about driving over the old London Bridge in the middle of the desert, we all made excited whooping noises and got him to drive back over it again which cheered him up
I don't think we can be too hard on tourists not knowing our history - there's plenty of locals don't know it either and precious few Brits who attempt the language in places they visit, let alone reading up on the history. I lived in Bath for years, and the astonished excitement of most visitors - especially Americans - to be allowed to walk on the actual pavements around the baths (rather than a plastic sheet over the top) always made me smile.
That's a fine looking cake Hosta . Are sure you can manage all of it? If you need some help......

Wise words as ever Pat.
Yet more heavy showers today. I think I might be heading to the polytunnel and finish my bulbs.
Hubby is going to dust the Annexe as our guests move in tomorrow.
Happy Birthday BL

Will there be cake?

I remember walking along Princes St in Edinburgh and 2 Americans were chatting:
" Is that Edinburgh Castle?" A passer by interjected and said " No, it's Stirling Castle, they're on exchange visits"

And it's not even my birthday.

You could stick a few candles on for BL, Hosta. Take away some of the guilty pleasure....
