Arrived home yesterday afternoon. Kitchen looked very tidy, that won't last long! Horses are fine, so is cat. It has been cold and wet here so the outdoor tomatoes have had it, but the housesitter said he'd eaten loads and courgettes. There was a good helping of French beans to pick, had them with trout last night. But the petunias look awful, in fact the pots of flowers are all a bit sad. My violas and pansy plug plants arrive next week so I'll be clearing the pots anyway. Michaelmas daisies and dahlias are all out, looking pretty. Only 5° this morning.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
How about advertising asking for locals to lend old photos and have a little exhibition coffee morning fundraiser / awareness raiser? Maybe invite local press / radio along?
What are you splittin punkdoc? I've decided my "allotment" is more likely to become a nursery for plants to bulk up . The irises are going round the lake but probably not for another year of two.
Astrantias, Persicaria and Sanguisorba to start with.
If I ever got round to sorting the orchard out, I would be able to dig a nursery bed in there, next to the greenhouse. I have probably been saying that for the last 10 years.
Strange that i am still sitting here, drinking coffee.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
That sounds like a good plan Liri - booklet I mean, and getting locals to dig up old photos too. Nothing like as interesting but we have old farm building foundations hiding here under fabric and fine grey gravel and paths for large farm machinery. I shall have to ask the older neighbours about those before I can draw up proper plans for new projects.
Climbed to 18C here after a cool start but the light is definitely different - clear, bit less harsh some how than high summer. I have been and treated myself to some new jeans on sale at 40% off. Dentist chappy very pleasant and thorough and chats all the way thru about what he's doing and why but hadn't told me about the root canal he was planning to clear. Says I'll probably start throbbing a bit tomorrow. Ha! Now more like. Booked to go again in 3 weeks for more metal swapping.
Pat - I hope your BP is better at home than at the doc's. Have a friend whose BP always rockets at the docs but she didn't believe him till he took a machine home to prove he doesn't need statins.
Nursery beds are a great way to grow on divisions Hosta. Get to it Pdoc! After your coffee.

Take it easy Pat. Hosta hugs from me.
Thanks a Hosta. Evening TV on now, so I don’t imagine I’ll be doing much.
Morning all.

Hi all.
Beautiful blue sky, but very cold at the moment. Autumn sunlight is so different to summer light, garden looks quite different.
Planning some plant division today, will end up with lots of bits, but nowhere to put them, further enlargement of beds may be required.

Thanks very much for the booklet idea, Hosta. I think there might be some mileage in that...
I'll have to run it past the committee. There are loads of historical photos so we could incorporate some "through the ages" views too.
Liri, What about a calendar too?

Me too Pdoc ... then the bathroom to give a quick wipe over ............
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Can't get going this morning. Parcel delivery man woke me at 9.15....ages since I slept for so many hours.
What started as a pleasant autumn morning has now turned to rain scuppering my plans for clearing bedraggled bedding from pots.
Liri, the work in the park should prove interesting and I like Hosta's idea of the booklet.
