Good morning all I was totally kn*ckered last night ... no idea why ... Slept on sofa from about 8 and went to bed at 9 and slept through until now!!! Think I'm sleeping for Hosta as well as myself!
It's a lovely morning ... Blue sky and sunshine ... Apparently we've got a warm spell coming up ... OH has promised to help me sort the veg patch out for the winter as he won't be working Sun/Mon/tues... Take the bean canes down and clear the pots of toms and cukes etc
clari ... I think work in the voluntary sector is often frustrating ... Before I worked for Children's Services I worked for a series of charities ... One had a dynamic and charismatic young head and was run in quite a professional manner - the less said about the pervading ethos of the others the better However , once I got used to the way things happened there I found ways of improving things, encouraging a more professional approach from those who quite often didn't have a professional bone in their body. Softly softly catchee monkey. (( hugs))

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Another lovely sunny day. Why did I agree to overtime from 2pm? I'm dropping Hubby at the shop and I'll pop in and see what time I'm due to finish to-night. Fingers crossed.
I bought 5 iris ensata from the little nursery in town. 3L pots and full of weeds. I reckon they're about 3 years old.
I managed to split them into 33 little plants. Not bad for £10 eh?
Good morning. Bright and sunny here and gorgeous colours on the liquidambars. I always coveted on in Belgium but couldn't with my alkaline soil. Here they're planted to line roads and in municipal spaces and I no longer covet. Odd that. Could go a Lebanon cedar tho.
Dentist this morning. replacing a very old metal filling with modern stuff in teh hope that will stop the wee electric shocks I get from that otherwise healthy tooth. Garden visits this pm so I hope I stop feeling lop sided and drooling in time.
Sod's law Hosta - and you nee dthe pennies for your hols don't you?
Intriguing to find a path Liri. Hope the "vernissage" goes well Pat.
Safe home Busy? and Dacha?

Good thing your garden is big, Hosta! Congrats on the recent bargains.
LilyP, that's a lovely early autumn scene. The beech trees are just beginning to turn colour here, too. But no discernable frost yet, though we got down to 2.8 on Monday night. Are you in a frost pocket, Fritillary?
Your dad's nursing home sounds great, Chicky. Hope his discomfort eases soon.
I'm on standby to be a supportive wife when OH comes back from the doctor's. He panics a bit about his health and they are threatening him with some tests for an arterial problem, so we shall see what state of mind he's in when he returns... His dad died quite young from heart problems so he tends to have that at the back of his mind.
Chicky, the "archaeological" bit of this park work is really interesting, especially because I'm a relative newcomer to the area; some of our volunteers have lived in the town all their lives, and remember the old path before it was grassed over (in the early 60s, I think) for ease of mowing. The park is the former estate of a Victorian mill owner's mansion, demolished in the 50s due to dry rot, and includes the mansion's walled garden, plus the footprints of a couple of much older farms which were demolished in the 1930s. We did a bit of excavation a couple of years ago on the site of one of the farms, of which no photos exist, to establish its extent. We found the back wall and a cobbled yard, but need to wait for a real archaeologist to tell us what to do now... There are other features to be incorporated in the new "interpretive walks", like sets of steps, an ancient orchard, a little dam which fed the farms (to be restored so it's not a 4ft deep mud bath for dogs!), and charcoal-burning platforms in the steep woodland.
It's sunny at the moment but the promised rain clouds are gathering... hope your Friday is a good one, everyone.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Well it was a strange day. My Bp was 185/65. Headache and earache unbelievable, Dr forgot to tell me the results from my double Mammograms from last week’s Canberra excursion. Told to buy a Blood Pressure machine for home and some drops for the ear. Next appt 2 months away.
When I got home I rang the dr’s surgery and said she forgot to tell me the results. The girl looked it up and said that Dr had said everything was normal.
Got home, had a cuppa and 2 panadol, flopped on lounge chair, and slept until 5 pm.
Obviously, my plans to go to the art gallery slipped away. I do volunteer in the gallery and was there Wednesday afternoon, so watched two members completing the hanging of the entries, so I did see them all, but I don’t know know who won what.
Hubby had kept busy this afternoon by chopping vegetables and leftover chicken, so I’ve had a bowl of Chicken soup/stew. Just the thing. Now back on the lounge and not sure when I’ll go to bed tonight.

I think you'll have had the best of the day by then actually - it's going to cloud over and rain arrive later, they say. Good deal on the irises
Working today so better get on - hope you all get a drop of sunshine

Liri, that all sounds like the most wonderful project.
I do hope you're taking lots and lots of photos.
Maybe make a little booklet which can be sold later locally for fundraising?
