Glad your Dad is ok. Chicky and hope WW starts to improve soon. Make sure you work Dove hard.
What is the news Hostafan?
I have just spent 2 hours on the phone, trying to sell an investment, during which time, they variously denied my existence, followed by telling me my account number was wrong, etc etc.
I tried really hard not to lose my temper, but failed and have now made a formal complaint. I expect it will be at least 6 months before I see the money.
Am going into the garden to do something violent.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team

When Mum died I had to get all of both her and Dad's savings into accessible accounts in order to pay his care home fees for what could have been years - he was only 77. One of their savings was in the form of shares in a Canadian company. I spent 2 years trying to get hold of that money, then gave up and passed the task over to Dad's IFA who, after a few weeks, described them as 'kafkaesque' (including their complaints system). They spent 18 months trying to get the right form signed by the right person. We thought we were almost there when Dad died and I had to start all over again. 5 years in and I finally managed to speak to the right person who said "Oh yes, I can do that. The money will be in the Estate Account by tomorrow evening". I'm far more grey haired than a person of 27 would normally be as a direct result of it. And we had quite a few unnecessary holes dug in the garden . Still I managed to find a tree to put in each one
The only thing worse than dealing with financial companies is dealing with utility companies, IME.
I wish you success. Suggest you visit a garden centre - you may need some quite sizeable shrubs ...

Poor London, again. That is my sons route to work every day. Fortunately he ok but his new graduate has been caught up in it. She is new to London and very traumatised. He has taken her home bless him

Only just heard about London. Hope it's a one off and not a cluster.
Been snoozing and reading and generally being lazy as I wind down from all the road trip buzz. 19C out there now and bright and sunny but the rain gauge has finally got over the 100mm mark. That's one hand if you're measuring horses.
There are autumn daffs and naturalised cyclamen flowering in the front grass now. Lovely plants but I have to deal with laundry before I can go and play. OH is off to Brittany on Monday for 3 days of gold competition.
I hope you are all gearing up for an adventurous or a recuperative or a therapeutic weekend. Delete as applicable.

Afties all. Just when you think it's safe to get back on a train....
Dread to think of the devastation if that had gone off the way it was clearly meant to. Hope chicky wasn't in the area - I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the different train stations and locations. Glad all is ok with your son LP. Kind of him to help his colleague. Helluva shock for her.
I noticed there was a bit of chat about cities here a few days ago, and I meant to say - you couldn't pay me enough to live in any city. That applies even more now.
Is Hosta back yet?
Agree about dealing with these companies on the phone, especially your sort of situation r'girl. It's bl**dy hard enough without being made to jump through endless hoops. That's something that needs proper sorting out and regulating IMHO. These institutions just seem to be so hit and miss. I didn't have too many problems with my Dad's estate, but he was very astute and fortunately all was in place. He died at home, so no issues with care homes etc. Made things so much simpler. My sister's MIL has just died though, and that's been a sh*tstorm for them to deal with.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Golf! not gold. Clouded over now. OH is busy finishing his hedge trimming. He seems to be going for an unintentional Jacques Wiertz effect so next year I'll have to get canes and string out. I know it's on a slope but it's a straight slope with no hummocks.
Have just rescued a sparrow from our wood burner. 2 excited dogs and both kittens thought I needed help. Bird now safe and, I hope, wiser about our chimney.

erm, was I going somewhere? I'm confused now.
I started bulb planting ,then the rain stopped so I got the boat onto the lake and cleared some more weed.
No 1 daughter called for a chat during her lunchbreak. Bless'er. She'd messaged me to say she wasn't involved in the train incident.
" don't worry " she said
" of course I worry, I'm a parent, it's my job to worry "
Cuppa and a wee bit of lunch.
Financial institutions are just the worst.
I got an annual statement yesterday regarding my life insurance: total gobbledygook.
Sorry Hosta....brain malfunction. Two days of working with the 'boss' as opposed to the person who's really in charge, have affected me
It's still dry so I'm off out to do summat
