This was tiny and very hard to photograph in the dark but I like the Latin name Ypsolopha scabrella.
How a moth with such a fancy golden coat gets named 'The Maple Button' I'll never know. Excuse the fibres, I haven't managed to get rid of the static on the perspex yet.
This one kind of hurts your eyes. The Scallop Shell
I'm still amazed by green moths and this one gets its camo from the DPM school.
and who needs butterflies when you can stay up until 2am to see things like this?
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Don’t know what the insects are Tidy Gardener but if in doubt I just chuck washing up wares all over. It won’t hurt the plant and it may rid you of your problem. That’s my go to for most “ invasions “ .
This thread is 165 pages celebrating the astonishing diversity of garden wildlife and you suggest 'kill anything that looks a bit insecty just in case'?

Just found this little beggar having a fine old time on my roses He was the only one I could see - must want the entire plant to himself the greedy little blighter!
at first I thought they were flying ants but their wings look too small?anyone have any ideas? and how I can get rid of them.. they were all over soapwort then a lupin..you have to get the photo enlarged .sorry if this isn't the right place to ask
@the tidy gardener I appreciate you want to be tidy, but it's not a great idea to try and destroy things before you know what they are. They may be all over your soapwort and lupin but are they harming anything? Are there any signs of damage? Some close up pictures would be most useful and best to start your own thread for best answers.
I just wanted to know what they were.so to discourage them from coming again.i stupidly said got rid.i wouldn't.god forbid get rid of an insect.i don't.i don't even get rid of slugs.i don't use pesticides and my garden is full of insects.but not this one.i have a lot of flies too.i was wondering where they'd come from.they seem to love my green bench as well.
Yesterday in a friend's garden, captured a juvenile praying mantis and brought it to my own garden to take its portrait (I didn't have my camera with me there).
