@wild edges what camera / lens do you use. I got mine second off Ebay for a good price.
I use a Sony A6000 mirrorless with their 30mm Macro lens. The lens is a bit too wide for insect macro as you have to be within a few centimetres of the bug for a proper close up and then the depth of field is so tiny that any movement ruins the shot. It was the only macro lens for the camera at the time though and it was fairly cheap for what it was. The camera is great though. The view finder is electronic so you can set it to zoom in on specific points as you focus which really helps to make sure the eyes are in focus. It also has a great feature where it auto-focuses to within a couple of mm and then you can tweak the focus manually on the lens.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
We opened the window and it flew out ... OH thinks he caught a glimpse of red on the underwing but he’s not sure ... anyone know what it is please ... could it be a Brocade Moth?
