  • Lovely markings on that Knot grass mother caterpillar - I have just bought a Perfecta Alba scabious, I wonder if it will be visited by this caterpillar/moth?

Scabiouses don't sound like one of their usual food sources but I found one on their last year too but didn't I'd it at the time. It looked quite big so hopefully it doesn't munch too much of the plant before it metamorphoses. As long as it sticks to the flowers, the plant should recover quickly.

Looks like a couple of shag beetles  :o
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Yep, too many legs for a single individual. ;)

My insects of the day are still in their infancy. I expect those to be the eggs of the common green shieldbug, Palomena prasina. A neat arrangement, don't you think? I'll try to follow their evolution and post more pics in the coming days.

Still I am very proud that they picked our garden to start a family. They are getting very rare, so it’s good that they are comfortable enough here 😊
