Usually, this forum is about salivating over plants - but this thread seems to make me hungry for food most evenings! Eggy bread... an acceptable meal for any time of day I say.
Steak and new potatoes here, followed by cherry upside down cake.
We have just had some Kamchatka crab bake topped with a little bit of red caviar ......washed down with some left over Malbec......isn't great that when you finally retire ....you can do that on a Sunday evening ......my problem is that every evening can very easily become a weekend evening
As we are on holiday (again, I hear you say!) we will be going to the pub for dinner.
We went to Mannington Hall in North Norfolk and the weather did what the BBC said it would, showers with some local heavy ones. Well, local meant over Mannington! We didn't stay very long, but the rose gardens were disappointing as they are mostly old roses that flower in June. There was a notice apologising about the state of them which said it was because of the weather. Most of the roses were diseased, smaller ones had lost almost all their leaves. They needed a good feed, mulching and a spray or several with fungicide. Also the black spotty dead leaves needed clearing away.
So we went to Holt, a pretty village, but, being Sunday, most of it was shut. There was a very pretty tea room with a well planted garden and flowery cups and saucers, so we had tea and cake. Had to sit inside though because of the showers. There was a live singer with a lovely voice, dressed in the 1950's style, who sang old songs, Frank Sinatra sort of thing. We really enjoyed it.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Re-heated butternut squash and caremelised red onion risotto for me.
Ventured down to the lake and all is well.
I got a bit carried away and planted some water lilies and pulled some more weed .
Came indoors and realised it was 7.35. Work sure gets in the way of gardening. Can you all get together and persuade Hubby I should retire? pretty please.
Reheated Moroccan chicken and veg casserole/roast with couscous and/or mashed potato for me and youngest. I had a bit of everything
I've been out doing some more bits and pieces too as the rain stayed away. Very warm and a bit humid. You'd have thought it was a bit cool, Hosta - only in the high teens
Glad your lake is ok . I've only caught up a little with what had happened.
Did you leave them some tips about the roses BL?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

No lentils I'm afraid; haven't much of anything until I go shopping tomorrow!

You're still a young man, you can't retire yet, should be me first, not much chance of that though, I've got stack of work piling up.
