Just quick update. Chateau de Gâteaux has been a huge success in the opening weekend, utterly amazing.
Extremely hard work, some very steep learning curves dealt with. A great experience, a great team of helpers and I just can't sleep, haven't even been to bed. I've just rearranged the kitchen again (3rd time). ?

I have a long list of things to do tomorrow, thankfully mostly paperwork, I hate to say it but I hope we have a quiet Monday, I really need to catch up with my personal life. I haven't quite finished moving in yet and have definitely run out if clothing,
I will try & post some pictures tomorrow but just wanted to let you all know I survived. The first customer arrived at 9:00 on Saturday morning, last ones left at 22:00hrs, Sunday from 10am there was never a moment we didn't have a bum on seat until 19:30 hrs. Amazing weekend. Took loads of dosh too.
Also have reservations, lunch tomorrow for 6 people, they already had afternoon tea today and breakfast yesterday and in August a lady has booked Afternoon Tea on the lawn for 30 ladies.
Must go, need to rearrange my office ( well get a bigger box than the shoe one I started with yesterday for the takings.

am off (at vast expense) to get a second opinion on my eye. Hospital last week was not good, he talked about the wrong eye then gave me some drops so I "felt like I was leaving with something"!!!

Congrats BL - having people coming from an hour away is a big compliment in itself. I'd take my hat off to you if I was wearing one. Huge amount of work and effort - not to mention stress. You couldn't pay me enough to do it.
Congrats to DD - what a fabulous weekend. You couldn't have wished for better! Bums on seats and cash in the till is what it's about, and it looks like that will be happening regularly. Word of mouth is the best advertising you can have, and I bet there's plenty of that happening too. More power to your elbow - and your whisk !

Glad you had a good time chicky. Did you wear your shoulder pads and have big hair for the occasion? It's the music you grow up with which stays with you always, no matter what else you grow to like and indulge in.

will do Hosta Son reminded me that it would've been a good idea to start the car and run the engine occasionally ... But I couldn't have revved the engine with the boot on ... OH would've had to do it so fingers crossed for when I try to start it up ...

Littlest chicklet is off to Budapest with some friends for a few days - dropping her off at one of the friends on my way to Kew. Meanwhile Chicklet is still working out how she can fit her life into one suitcase .....she goes on Wednesday, amd I forsee many packings and unpackings in the next 48 hours
