For some FOOLISH reason I decided to be arty with my trifle. It's in individual portions (more to do with my being a special kind of lazy and HATING having to "be mother" and serve it up so it's much easier to do it like this and I decided to set the jelly and fruit at an angle.
Of course I had used the straight glasses so that I could simply cut the cake base (between jelly and custard) to match the rim; push fit sorted nice clean display and everyone will be happy.
But that won't work with my all fancy ideas! Why do I make things complicated? It's bad enough having to make the cake for what it meant to be a "simple" dessert.
The weather is currently looking lovely; I am going to ignore the time honoured fashion of not having your washing out on display when guests arrive (his lordships family who I am sure will have seen his pants on the line many times before) by making the most of it!
Pat I love it when it's frosty out especially when yours are the first foot prints in the snow. Good morning everyone Dove it's good your foot is feeling better. Here are my two Alfie and Ed.
Cooler and cloudy with a breeze. I shall make a cake or two, I have a chocolate cake, a fruit cake and something else in the freezer. One will be orange with grated courgette in it. Trouble is, you don't know how many people will turn up and now rain is forecast.
Also need to do some rose dead heading. Shan't dead head Paul's Scarlet because she has lovely orangey hips, but she's looking a bit untidy at the moment.
Hope DD has a good day.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
We had a very good family lunch and are now back home. ? It was at the Burns Club where for a set price you can eat as much as you like and can keep going back and helping yourself to more. There was a huge range of foods. We are not going to bother about dinner tonight.
When we left this morning the view of our river from the road showed ice on it, so Hubby stopped and took a photo.
Lovely to see everyone, especially Joyce, our little trouper.
ill be interested to hear how DD got on (If she's not too tired).
I can't remember who mentioned U2 yesterday? then I think it was Chicky who mentioned Joshua Tree. Funnily enough , it was JT which turned me off U2. I loved all the earlier stuff by hated JT and everything thereafter. Odd eh?
Cool and grey and wind free this morning.
Haircut at 9 then hubby has promised to help me weed today.
Good morning and thanks to everyone who mentioned little Skye. Not heard how her first night went yet,
Fairy have a good day, how far are you heading?

rebecca lovely pets
busy are you having another open day?
Joyce, thinking of you
Clari, I once had a neighbour who took my washing down ( I was out) and left it on my doorstep. She was having guests to her garden and I spoilt the scene!!
Dove, I am really worried about Nora not getting my messages so I sent you one to see if it arrived. Could you just let me know if it did?
was there any cover of Hampton Court ? Have I missed it?
Good luck to DD
i had a
Paul's scarlet but planted a honeysuckle beside it, big mistake!

LillyP ... something strange must be happening ... I received your PM and replied to it straight away - have you not received my reply?
I also contacted Nora on your behalf who said she'd not had any messages from you, but would definitely get in touch with you about it.
