I'm not trying to stir things up, but we really enjoyed André Rieu's concert some years ago in Melbourne and have lots of DVDs. The things that impresses us is that he is bringing some classical music to those that have never been introduced to it before, and also, at least he doesn't need government money to survive like the opera and ballet companies around the country. (Speaking from an Australian perspective).
Puncdoc, I had a patient in his 80s say to me "why have you put me in here with all these old people" it was a Hyper Acute Stroke unit, BUT, the youngest patient we had while I worked there was 18, a lot of folk in their 30s. Have a (second) cousin in here 90s same atitude as your Mum, I have met a lot of people at 50, with one foot in the grave so to speak!
What lovely kittens! Ours has grown up - getting a little geriatric, in fact - but is still my constant companion. For anyone on Twitter, you can follow "Emergency Kittens" - photos to make you smile and reduce the day's tension. (Or increase it, I suppose, if you're a cat hater! )
The ominous-looking clouds dispersed without any storms; not even a drop of rain, by the look of things. Not that I'm complaining because we had quite enough in the past couple of weeks to see us through for a bit.
I've got notifications too! But only for threads I've contributed to during the past 2 or 3 days; I'll have to look up the others and post on them, I think. Tis a shame the site has these glitches, but I'd hate to be without it now.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
