The cake looks fab fairygirl. Ruby's watching the tennis after showering away her minute garden buddies. Too hot to cook. Dad rustled up some pastrami rolls and now he's glued to the TV (for a fortnight) watching the tennis. Been home at mine most of the afternoon and trying to get the snails off the front door. Rehoused them in the garden. Weather's been quite changeable today. Andy is two sets up against Brown. The silence is palpable. Off to make cups of tea.
Mmm. Lovely looking cake - thanks Fairy! And it's great to see the photo problem has been fixed.
I picked another couple of pounds of raspberries this afternoon, and had to prepare and freeze the majority immediately - all this damp has led to grey mould on the "sharp" end of lots of the berries. I'll have to go right through the canes and remove anything looking suspect, or it'll happen again next year, the Internet tells me...
A baby squirrel has been entertaining us, sitting on the little wall next to the house delicately chewing the wild strawberries which grow in the retaining wall.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
What a pain in the danglers Liri. I love rasps but I've never grown them, although we have the best climate up here for 'em
We did blend some with a few strawbs for some sauce for the cake though
I snip or squish slugs, but I rehome my snails in the road Rebecca. I let them have a chance of getting back. I'm all heart
I've done some deadheading and a little bit of tying in of sweet peas, as there isn't a lot else to do out there at present, other than of the 'shifting slabs or constructing' variety, and the battery's flat onthe drill/driver - just for a change
I need some compost for repotting and planting anyway. The sweet peas are starting to flower now so I've picked a few for the house. They should be grand in a week or two.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I made a Salade Nicoise for supper ..... it was very good indeed .... beautiful local new potatoes cooked in their skins then peeled, like gleaming hen's eggs, really good tuna and anchovies, beans, roasted peppers, eggs, tomatoes, basil from the garden and freshly made mayonnaise ...... and there's egg whites left to make a palava tomorrow ... there's still a few of last years raspberries in the freezer that need using up

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
That cake looks luscious FG. We have discovered a block of raspberries in the new garden and I have also bought some fresh new plants for our future fruit cave. I suspect the only slugs I have came with us as passengers hidden in pots but we do have fat, juicy snails. They get lobbed in the road or stood on depending on where I am in the garden.
When the in-laws were asked if there was any special thing they wanted to eat they said, with one voice, Eton Mess and your bread and butter pudding. Surely they're both easy enough for them to do at home but, apparently not, and then I do use fresh, buttery brioche rather than stale white sliced.....
Love your bear Clari. Is Reggie jealous?
Dove - I've been limping about with that bloody toe again so Possum asked if I still had my orthopedic boot collection. No. Wasn't planning to have broken feet again. How long before you are liberated?
Joyce - will be thinking of you tomorrow. Take care and take all the comfort you can from friends and family.
Jolly hot again here and expected to stay that way for the rest of the week. Hotter at home but maybe a storm on Sunday afternoon. Hope it's dry for the evening as we've booked to go and see Carmina Burana in the old medieval Halles at Moutiers-ls-Mauxfaits.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Obelixx ... sorry to hear your toe's still sore Hopefully I'll be bootless next Monday ... I wanted to try without it today but OH didn't want me to ... he said if I managed without it today then I wouldn't use it tomorrow, and he'll be at work tomorrow ... sensibly he said wait until Sunday when he's at home again.
Oh dear ... Petra Kvitova seems to be having a medical problem ... BP being taken and chest being listened to on court. Now she's up and receiving serve ... poor lass ... she can hardly be match fit ... having had to take so much time out ... it's so sad.

About to have another piece of it Dove. I'm sure it contributes well to my five a day.....
Older fairylet made some pavlovas recently. Yumm
Just watching some tennis now. I can't normally be a**ed with women's tennis much, but the Kvitova match is on and she is struggling with her hand. What a horrific time she's had. Shows the strength of character though. I hope she can continue to do well. The surgeon who operated is in the crowd, which is lovely.

Snap Dove. Sad isn't it, but incredible that she's been able to get back playing at all.

Bless her - she's a battler - she'll be back
